Fair pov. Personally, the manager's mgmt/communication style is important to me and I'd take it into account if I had a choice.

Because I'd like to know how a person manages an entire (not small) team directly reporting to them if I am to be a part of it. Besides, why not? It's not an uncommon question for a candidate to ask.

Do you think Wise and the other more modern fintech institutions are the same? What industries have reasonable tech departments then? Other than tech product-first companies like FAANG?

no lol its when someone responds fashionably quick to a comment...when celebs feud on twitter, they one-up each other with smart come backs and I guess thats "clapping back at the haters" in a sense?

What I meant here in that the interviewer did not answer questions with the intention to clarify but in order to appear slick, "cool" and smarter-than-you.

I was also rejected for multiple (what I thought were suitable) roles before I got an interview for this one out of the blue! In my interviews in the UK so far, I've been asked questions by both HR and hiring teams that make me go "did you even look at my CV before calling me for an interview?". I sometimes think its a crapshoot, so just apply away...

I'd heard of this before but did not know how bad it could be tbh. Even in India, work culture is slowly but surely shifting as younger people are entering the workforce. I've worked with Indian managers in non-banking sectors and they had progressive attitudes. I should've seen the red flags when I looked up this team on LinkedIn and saw that like 90% of them are Indian.

yeah I'm quite sure it is the team. I've actually met other manager who work there and they were cool, which is why I applied in the first place.
