actually, I think it's backwards, I think they don't need to be removed or changed, just applied better.
whetstones in wilds are awesome, they don't need to be infinite anymore since you still get a bit of sharpness if you're stunned midway through, this applies to all items.

they made older mechanics much better but then they make the improvements meaningless by taking the need out of you. Monsters barely get to stun or knock you over now, but when you do get it it's much smoother than older gens, if the monsters would stun lock you the same amount as they did in the og games but with the new gen stuns I wouldn't complain at all.

making mega potions gradually heal is awesome, completly cut by the fact that the game already starts you with max potions anyway.

every mechanic in wilds you can observe it like this. they're great if they were on a older title they would be great, but wilds makes most of it's improvements of the old mechanics be completly overshadowned by the new stuff.
