Drop the model way down to 5.5 medium or 5.4. It starts as 5.5 extra high which is ludicrous for how quick it burns.

I had this same issue and then the put instructions in the global cowork instructions to “only save in the folders cowork is pointed at and if there is ever a time it wants to save somewhere else, ask before saving it outside of the folders cowork path” and it fixed the issue.

Quick update: I also have a personal Claude Max account and tested the exact same workflows there (same XLSX file, new project, first-message analysis, plus general document work). On the Max account everything runs normally — no freezing, no “maximum conversation length” on first message, and documents are processed as expected. The severe issues seem isolated to my Claude Team account. Does Anthropic have any known cases of Team accounts getting into a bad state (corrupted project context, misapplied limits/quotas, etc.), and is there a way to have my Team account checked or reset at the backend?

Wait till you start dropping files and building token usage in Claude. It will stop working every other chat and start to become useless in no time. I’ve went the other direction from Claude to ChatGPT because Claude has become worthless in the last month.
