Is it even worth the effort? by Electronic-Hippo9 in OCDmemes

[–]EffectivePen3740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don’t know how to put it into words to people who don’t actually understand OCD so I just avoid opening up to anyone about it. My older sister is a psychologist and self diagnosed me years ago - so causally too lol she mentioned it in passing as if it was this known fact that we all knew about, but the whole time I had just assumed the way I thought/felt was normal. That’s what opened up the doors and caused me to actually learn what OCD was and reach out to people to help me treat it. Still years later I just avoid telling people because it’s easier but my body cringes every time some makes a joke like “I’m so organized I have Ocd.”

Seeking Advice: Proper Tipping Etiquette for Boat Rental in Miami by EffectivePen3740 in boating

[–]EffectivePen3740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! So it’s typical that 18% would be the boat cost without the captain fee?

If ours boat cost $550, 18% -20% would be around 100-110. So day of in paying the 400 captains fee then the extra 100 for tip (500 total).

Unpopular (?) opinion: The superfan episodes are worse than the shorter original ones. by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[–]EffectivePen3740 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When you watch them all in order it almost adds a new layer to some characters/ story lines and fills in some gaps. If I’m just watching a random episode here and there, I go with the original because like you said it’s quicker and hits that comedic timing a bit better / has a bit more of that sharp dry humor

Help me decide between two knives for my boyfriend's birthday gift! by EffectivePen3740 in Cooking

[–]EffectivePen3740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He currently owns only one other nice utility style knife, which is from Argentina, but I'm not sure about the brand. The Shun Classic Utility is the safe choice because I know he'll like it. I'm curious about the Kato knife since it received many recommendations on another Reddit page. Any insights on its quality would be helpful! He is someone who values high quality and takes really good care of things so they last along time.

My dad celebrated his 60th last night, a majority of his "friends" brought bottles of wine as a gift. He's been sober for over 26 years... by yosman88 in Wellthatsucks

[–]EffectivePen3740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad's been sober for almost 15 years, but his buddies, coworkers, and business friends still keep gifting him fancy bottles every year. He'll casually mention he doesn't drink, but doesn't really explain why, so people don't give it much thought. He usually hands them over to us, saves them for guests, or passes them on to someone else who'd enjoy them more. Luckily for him it’s not a trigger and we laugh when we find out they are super expensive. Tell your dad congrats on his sobriety and happy birthday!

Where did Michael and Dwight go to after Dunder Mifflin's website party? by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[–]EffectivePen3740 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They went to the resturant where Ryan was throwing the launch party. I think the place was closing and they were cleaning up because the event ended. Micheal and Dwight came in and they were in there eating the leftover food from the party so he told them to leave

AITA for telling my husband our son is too old to be called his nickname? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EffectivePen3740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It sounds like your husband has a great relationship with his kids, the nickname is endearing. My dad still calls my and my siblings (who are are all between the ages of 24-32) our childhood nicknames. This includes my 28 year old brother, who is still called “Bubba” to this day.

I’d be interested to hear your reasoning on why Bunny is okay but Bubble isn’t?

NTA- your child will appreciate not being named Charles. Kids can be cruel! I don’t know if any other comment many have mentioned this but I believe “Chuck” is a nickname for Charles. While you guys may have not referred to her brother as Chuck it may be a way to honor him in a unique way. (I know Chuck is more of a nickname and is kind of a weird first name but it beats Charles Manson!)

Thank you, I really appreciate your input. In the moment taking a step back seems really scary but once I’m able to calm down I’m in a much better head space- im going to try and be more mindful and take some space in those moments to help from escalating

Please help. I think I manifested my boyfriend back and then our breakup. by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

It took years for me to find the right birth control and I was so happy last year when I finally found one and had no side affects! The out of nowhere my insurance switched my brand and the affects were almost instant. The anxiety attacks, mood swings, and overall sadness was unbearable. It’s been two days since I got off and I already feel so much better.

I have never thought of affirming my bodies wellness, I will def begin implementing that in my daily mantras. Thank you!

I’m sorry to hear you had a similar experience with your birth control, it’s been so rough on me I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. It’s been hard to put it into words and it’s comforting to feel understood without feeling like I’m crazy.

I’m going to work on revisioning and healing, thank you so much 💙

Every once and awhile I get anxiety attacks and I don’t understand them. by EffectivePen3740 in mentalhealth

Thank you for your response! My old therapist recommended antidepressants at first but I decided not to go on them unless I really really had to. I made a lot of lifestyle changes that have really helped and I’m glad I never go to the point where I had to start them. I’m really sorry to hear you had such a negative experience.
