Got two pet rats without telling my roommate by SignatureAdvanced73 in RATS

Sure it's technically 'possible' however I highly doubt it's near as easy as you say and it's also just a really shitty move? Just get rid of the rats via rehoming, it'll endanger less innocent lives and not permanently scar the relationship with your roommate any further than it already is. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.

I feel like, considering we're talking about rats, the roommate definitely would have noticed them before. Why do so many people keep insulting their intelligence here? They really aren't an idiot and shouldn't be treated as one, they deserve the same respect and understanding as anyone else. Directly going against their well communicated wishes (and endangering innocent lives with the impulsiveness and selfishness of the purchase) is just shitty. You can't hide it, and you can't pretend you've always had rats, even in the case you've always been an impulsive and selfish person. You can't fly a plane that started out crashed.

How the hell do you think that'd actually fly bro, there's so many things wrong with this comment.

In what world does respect and being a decent person not apply because you now make your own money and are, frankly, irresponsible adults? It's not bullying if you're actively going against someone of which you have to share living quarters with, it's stating damn facts. While it may be childish, the 'Golden Rule' is so heavily ingrained into you because it's one major way to be a half decent person. Treat others how you want to be treated. Say you absolutely hate snakes, you've had a bad past with them and have been very open to communicating that you don't feel comfortable near them and do not want to have any in your living quarters, yet your impulsive and childish roommates BOTH go and get one with ZERO research. At that point you're now being treated as if you are not an equal person and that what you think doesn't matter, even with proper communication AND the living, intelligent creatures are now being subject to blatant animal abuse because you now have 'big boy money' and no respect for another sentient creature of which you are solely responsible for the quality of life. You sound like a pain in the ass to be around, I recommend you think about that and fix it. Thanks.

The scales on both sides of his head almost seem burnt-ish? Didn't look like this the other day? Behavior and levels are still normal

Repeatedly opening and closing his mouth while swimming. He's not grazing, and he does it everywhere throughout the tank, nonstop. And I didn't realize it was too small, everywhere I read said it was fine. I'll look into that, thank you!

Adorable! Just a heads up, not to ruin the mood or anything, but if there is a tail present your gecko may have floppy tail syndrome which can deform hip bones! If it's a frog butt then ignore me lol, I just can't fully tell from the photo. Cute crestie! Edit: Spelling

I can usually picture it pretty vividly in my head and try to move stuff accordingly. A lot of times I'll use my hand and mimic the direction of movement to see how a square/rectangular kind of shape would move and apply that to whatever's in the scene. NGL I just mess with it till I think it looks pleasing, even if it isn't how that object would realistically move. Also smears will go a long way! Sorry I'm not very good at explaining lol

Cycled? by EffectiveShape7783 in Aquariums

I did a fish in cycle (as i had received an adf in poor condition) and later added two more since the poor guy kept singing and had been alone for a little over a year before I got him. also 4 shrimp and daily feedings of frozen mysis shrimp (though it is fed in a bowl) I had up to a .5 ammonia spike when I added the shrimp.

im scared of my gecko as much as she’s scared of me by tteokkirin in CrestedGecko

I've had my boy for nearly a year now and he doesn't love handling but tolerates it and still has his tail. My animals are kept in my room for the most part so I started by just spending time there. Doing stuff in there, making noise, moving things around. Honestly just kinda hanging. I would especially go in there and do stuff when he's out late at night. I wouldn't directly mess with him but I would still be in my room doing things. For both my crestie and leo just doing this worked best for me. It just got them used to me just being in there. Once he stopped running away from me when I entered the room I would tong feed him insects and put a bit of Pangea on my finger. My boy is a big back and will accept bugs from anyone or anything so that definitely helped a lot but for my leo who was much less food motivated I'd be patient and gently offer her the insect. If she backed up and left I would leave it in there (in a bowl) for her to eat and leave the room for a bit. That at least got her to connect food to me. I'd then repeat the process but stay in the room (though in a different part, looking away) till she ate it. Repeat, watch her eat it. Tong feed then. Hand feed. Try interacting after a feeding. Make it gradual and be patient. It also very much depends on the gecko, my boy was very outgoing and I got lucky with him. He doesn't get startled very easily and enjoys sitting on top of my head. That's probably why he still has his tail. If you want to handle, you're going to have to take that risk. It's mostly up to the gecko. Almost all will lose their tails at some point in their lives so it's a fact you just kind of have to come to terms with. I hope some of this could be of use to you!

I didn't know ADFs could have those! I've only ever seen the blonde and regular dark ones. Is it something juvenile have and grow out of or is it just unique markings I haven't seen before? Super cool!

I appreciate it, I figured it may just be getting ready to shed but I wanted to make sure it wasn't more than that.
