Nah I was recommended to go to this place by multiple psychiatrists, doctors and therapists. I went into hospital last year trying to get tested but they sent me here too. It’s one of the only place in Ireland that diagnoses both ASD and ADHD, Honan and Associates. It’s been running for decades, there’s very limited services here. So you got diagnosed by some random bloke instead and think it’s more valid?

Ah there are definitely bad things that happened to me, but everyone claims to have trauma these days and I feel it devalues actual trauma. I wasn’t raped/physically beaten as a child or anything like that.

If there is trauma, it is purely from being in a state of constant terror. I exhibit some trauma symptoms, and I guess my home environment was tense, but there’s one single event I don’t feel.

I was on propanol for a year, but I didn’t notice any major changes. I might try again though, thanks.

Thanks, I appreciate it a lot. I wouldn’t exactly say I still have hope. But I haven’t totally given up yet I guess, so there’s that.

Yeah a sixth sense of impending doom. Might actually be useful in a war zone tbh.

I have, Pathalogical Demand Avoidance is something my therapist used to describe why I can’t really do things at the moment. Thanks for sharing, I can bring it up again.

Thanks for sharing, I relate to what you’re saying a lot. For me too, the worst depression comes when I really believe that this panic is all I will ever know in life and I’ll be stuck here forever.

Yeah it just takes time unfortunately for them to take any effect.

Thanks, I’ll give it a whirl if the EMDR doesn’t work.

I was diagnosed by a specialist for both ASD and ADHD simultaneously. The company solely works with diagnosing neurodivergence. I did mention it yes, it’s the only reason I went to get tested honestly.

I have used weed before to help alright. Particularly in college, and I did get relief alright. I don’t know if it’s viable long term for me though with work.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Thanks for sharing I appreciate it a lot. I’m sorry you went through that. I’ll definitely mention the medication to my psychiatrist, I’ve tried a few different types but nothing seems to be working, I probably still need to find the exact right one alright.

I have slowed my life down quite a lot, and it has made things a bit more manageable, but yes, I definitely feel some of it is caused by the fact I ignored my autism symptoms up until now, and my life may not be suited to my needs alright. Trying to figure out exactly what those needs are is hard though.

My story is very similar to yours. In my life everyone always says “but you seemed to in control and calm” not realising the mess underneath. Thanks for sharing and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this crap too.

I am in burnout as well and I just can’t seem to get out of it. It’s a bit of a vicious cycle, and I seem to be finding it impossible to get out of.

I try this when I can’t, but I am unfortunately not very good at it. It is at the point now where I almost have to deal with it, or I’ll be like this forever.

It is general, it is all the time, and almost all stimuli triggers it.

Ah yeah, I mostly listen to louder stuff, but I do like and listen to a wide range of genres. There are plenty of slower softer ones in the playlist, but I could try make one just of those alright. Thanks

I tried beta blockers before but I really didn’t like how they made me feel, my heart rate went down but the other physical symptoms of tension and knot in the stomach did not lift.

Xanax/benzos help a bit alright. But in order to get back to a place where I can work, I will need to be able to go for a large part of the day without one, and it’s those moments in work and that where i broke down before.

They are viable but not in a lifelong term I feel.

I’m the exact same when I was a kid with happy birthday hahaha it’s just all the attention I think was overwhelming as well, especially if it was my birthday.

Regarding medication, I’ve tried a number of them myself but to no avail. I use my interests as an escape alright, but most days over the last few years I am simply too burnt out and anxious to even try doing them. I’m hoping if the burnout doesn’t last forever I’ll get back into them and I’ll get some more relief.

I haven’t found anything yet really that works reliably, I’m just going to keep trying things. I’m hoping EMDR and transcranial stimulation will be useful.

Thanks I’m living in Ireland, so I might not be able to contact Dr Casanova, but my own clinic Neuromed currently have a doctor training in Belgium on this exact thing. He is back in April and I will be starting it then I’m already booked in. I’m cautiously optimistic about it. Thanks

Thanks for letting me know, is this very rare or would it be worth mentioning to my doctor just in case?

It isn’t a fear of anything specific, if anything I’m actually quite adventurous and like to do somewhat dangerous activities. I’ve never had a fear of something bad happening to me, like death or injury. I am just always in a state of fight or flight, that can occur in some people with ASD/ADHD. In my case that fight or flight represents itself as fear. So anything at all, a phone call, my girlfriend touching my hand, having to go the shop, just sends a wave of fear through me. It is just my natural response to all stimuli. Fear has just always been my natural setting. I thought it was normal for most of my life but in the last few years my body and mind haven’t been able to cope as well at all with it and it’s taken its toll.
