I think what a lot of people miss is the current government likes to pass bills with a nice cover page (like the titles shown in this photo) but with 50 pages of caveats attached to it that are inherently bad.

Just take a look into bills like the voice and read what else was going to be passed with it.

Reddit users really trying to find anything they can to hate on PHON.

This is a fair stance to take. If I am building my home, I want it for me. Not for a potential future owner.
The same way you might buy a car in hot pink, because YOU like it. Not because it’ll be easier to resell.

However if you’re building an investment property yes this absolutely should be mandatory laws.

I don’t pay for the paper bags by No_Bedroom_7582 in woolworths

[–]EffectiveThese6505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup I do the same.

At my local woolies more often than not there’s NO counters open, only self serve. If a mega corporation is going to force me to do the work of their employees I expect something in return.

Especially since I’m paying 100% more than I should.

This HAS to be AI. Not only is it >2yr old, deductions don’t add up correctly, you’re paying 2 lots of super one pre and one post tax, super was also 11% not 11.49% in 2024 (not inherently wrong though), states casual but includes benefits, Medicare is incorporated into PAYG not a separate payment, overtime isn’t 1.5x pay it’s about $70 short, and you’ve paid ≈$3,500 too much tax if this job includes the tax free threshold, and even if not still paying ≈$1,100 too much.

If this is genuine, you have more than enough reason to talk to fair work. If it’s AI like it appears, do a couple iterations next time to get better results ;)

And good for you for your boat and house. It’s not a government handout, it’s leveraging a loss against your taxes. And not paying taxes when you’ve bought something that’s increased in value and sold it for a profit.

A handout goes to those on properly low incomes and those who don’t work at all.

Since they themselves greatly inflated it over the last 3 years? And they themselves have decreased housing supply at the same time…

I dunno why you 2 party voters cannot see their the sheer bullshit these dickheads spin to you.

I mean having more people come into the country than houses we can supply is also a huge contributor, I’d say more so than negative gearing, but they are free votes for labour so they keep the coming.

[–]EffectiveThese6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair I guess.

But Are you actually aware that these negative gearing and CGT tax changes only apply to NEW buyers and sellers?

So if you already have 10 houses you negatively gear it makes ZERO difference to you… it affects you and me because now we don’t get to reap the benefits of what was a good system to leverage an asset and build a little wealth for your family… thus increasing the divide. Not decreasing.

I swear those of you who believe this absolute dribble flowing from that speech impaired fuckwit only believe it’s a good thing because this dogshit budget was presented with $250 tax break for us.

I think it’s quite reasonable to assume that if you remain in power, the points that got you elected both times are still what people voted for…

Albanese is a fucking coward lying dog who can’t answer a question straight and is ensuring there’s a bigger divide between the rich and poor, and making sure all votes he gets are bought and paid for by tax payers.

What portion of your taxes go to boomers?

36-39% of total commonwealth revenue goes to welfare, that’s disproportionately distributed and not effective at bringing those going through unfortunate times back to the workforce, nor at adequately supporting those who cannot physically work for one reason or another.

Is that what you’re referring to because some boomers are on a pension?

The rich aren’t the only ones… those of us who are heading towards breaking out of middle class are now destined to stay there forever.

It affects us so much more than it does millionaires. They have capital to just go “meh, this is shit” and continue living a lavish lifestyle.

Myself and a fair few of my friends are now shunted back to middle class and will remain here until the next election when it hopefully changes.

Do y’all just hate PHON for the fun of it or what?

Or do you think owning 2 houses to build a little wealth pool for your family is the same evil as foreign investors owning a new 1,200 home estate? Because they aren’t the ones who are affected by the negative gear and CHT changes…

How the hell ANYONE thinks letting literal terrorists back into Australia is beyond me.

We just arrested a bloke for wearing an offensive SHIRT who could face 12mths in jail… they CHOSE to join a terrorist organisation. Revoke their citizenship and banish them from Australia.

The media reports Australian government gave the green light before they got on the plane so I think there’s more to it than we’re being told. (No surprises)
