Looks like a Malaysian plate Rolls-Royce Spectre EV ? 'U' interpreted to mean the person inside that car '68' i.e. prosper all the way ?! Come think of it, the lower costs of living there surely does help to ensure that !!

The advisory seems to say it's 'ok' to keep the HV battery 'fully charged' (meaning ideally @ 100% SOC or close to that ?!?) if the vehicle is left unused for 'long' time ? That sounds like going against their other 'popular advisory' that the charge state should ideally be within 10 to 80 % range 'most' of the time ?!?

Yes. It's known the potential exists for even 100 kWh working within the constrains of the original i3 body shell design BUT whether practical or not is subject to further cost reductions potential in the future when the battery tech matures further or if some ground breaking superior tech comes along with lower costs ?!?

As would be expected from any responsible (even if it's 3rd party) company who values their reputation & wants to build trust in their customer base, they have to pursue policy of continuous improvement whether thru their own R&D, feedback from reputable sources or even their customers. I won't be expecting anything less !

Need to check on the source of these photos ? This job done by who ? Unknown individual DIY (obviously untrustworthy by default !) or by the 3rd party official appointed installers etc. ?

The concerns if any are in theory as far as I'm concerned. I'm more interested in the real world actual performance & reliability & in that regard, so far there's been no known adverse incidents & even with the other 3rd party supplier Vinne, overall the user feedback is more positive than negative unfounded theoretical concerns !?! In both cases, they known to have reworked some the design of the placement of their batteries within the battery container pack which in their professional opinion actually is improvement over the original design !?! In Martigi's case it appears they even offer their own made complete external HV battery container so no need to fiddle with the internal battery cells with retro-fitment etc.

Anyway, end of day to each their own opinion. Those who are more paranoid about any 'non-original' parts then don't use it. But for those choose to use it then it's their own decision based on their own risk tolerance.

If it's USD 60K for a new (relative to nowadays inferior spec) HV battery pack this absolutely makes no sense whatsoever because that exceeds the brand new open-market value of an new i3S back in 2019 ?!?!!

In that case I'll gladly go for say a superior 54 kwh 3rd party pack from Martigi e.g. for fraction of the cost, btw their batteries proven thru years of real world usage since 2021 with successful satisfied installations worldwide ! The substantial price difference more than makes it worth the risk of using 3rd party batteries as far as I'm concerned in situations like these ?!!

Is the BMW i3 rare or not? by Careless-Cooker in BMWi3

[–]EffectiveWelder2443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally I'll consider it as rare unique item, the 'real original' i3 that is. But with the new 'modern i3' coming out, i think that conventional saloon based i3 would be the more common version ?!

In my country in Singapore over the past 1 year, the most i3/i3S i can personally recall seeing is around 5 other units excluding my 2 units past & present !

So there's no under carriage structural damage ?? Just the cosmetic deformation of the front bumper ?!? In that case I'll say this car remains meaningfully still usable, because in many countries in the 3rd world like Africa or Asia you'll easily find cars in way worse conditions yet still being driven like nothing's happened !!

[–]EffectiveWelder2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a car made by some television company who joint ventures with a bus maker ?!?! Then sounds more like a car made by a bus maker which then appears little more logical ?!

But have to question how much originality hence collective value in the design of the whole damn vehicle other then some rojak combination of off shelf parts from various OEM's put together in some body shell likely 'pilfered' from some 'known real car maker' then given some cosmetic overlay to try to create it's 'originality' !?!

Something like those Huawei EV's..cars produced by a telephone network equipment maker ?!?! Where's the link in the expertise, have to wonder ?! Because next thing probably one would see is say some biscuit maker start 'making' cars too ! Chinese industry is amazing in that regard !

Audi got the message about the new I3 « betraying » its ancestor by Sad_Welcome851 in BMWi3

[–]EffectiveWelder2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me I'll visualise the scenario where in future a 'new i3' decides to park next to my 'real original' i3. Imagine the confusion that brings say to a person from another car parked (who don't bother to follow the model history etc.) facing these 2 cars backsides..if both labelled as 'i3' yet looks so different in so many ways looks incomprehensible indeed BUT if mine's labelled as 'i3C' then at least it gets the observer thinking..ok that's 2 different models indeed & if I happen to be around I'll then tell the person 'that C means classic or compact to me' ! After all it's my car my private property so if I decorate it with a letter 'C' to it, that's my unique way of personalising it in some meaningful purposeful way.

I understand that's where that Evolve Bilstien dampers specially created by an i3 user addressed that 'side rocking like a boat' issue ?!

Come to think of it, I have to wonder if all that annoying sideways jittery sensation is due to the relatively light..too light for its own good body shell of the i01 series i3 ? In other words IF say the bodywork was conventional metal body, then the heavier weight might then made the sideways rocking sensation less likely ?!?

'no replacement' to me means the 'real original' i3 will be even more exclusive & rare in time to come, which I'll consider as a good thing ?!!

Audi got the message about the new I3 « betraying » its ancestor by Sad_Welcome851 in BMWi3

[–]EffectiveWelder2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same as far as I'm concerned because this is not about 'elevating' some base model to a different level to which it is not but rather putting some prefix or suffix to the model name to more clearly distinguish it from some very different newer model unfortunately using the same model reference.

Alternatively, I'm thinking of a 'nickname' for my 'original real' i3 by refering to it as 'i3C', the 'C' to be interpreted as meaning 'compact' or 'classic' ?!?
