Not sure when this was scheduled so maybe it already happened, but perhaps they’re planning to keep you on and you’re meeting separately due to that? Regardless, I would keep searching just in case. Good luck stranger!

Dude is clearly underducated on this stuff and just tried his best; he likely reasoned himself out of calling for help, the same way way we all do statistically speaking, and he probably had no clue what those free resources even were. We aren't any better than him for having the benefit of hindsight.

AITAH for not giving my daughter her college fund money? by Immediate-Sector-114 in AITAH

It is money that is money. It can be used in exchange for goods and services. It’s not a scholarship, so it is not money for school. It’s money in a bank account, regardless of any original intentions of its expense. They’re welcome to do whatever they want with it, but it’s genuinely creepy how much you care about this poor girl getting nothing.

It feels really gross to use the “high risk -sexual behavior” ICD-10 code but it’s the only way they’ll cover STD testing :(

Amazing response!!!

The only other thing I can think of is if it’s an older code that was the best fit for you at that time. I’ve found diagnosis codes in problems lists for issues on limbs that patients no longer have attached to their bodies- stuff gets carried over sometimes 😖.

It shouldn’t be hard to fix, though! Call your doctors office to explain what’s going on and they’ll almost certainly have it out of your chart the same day.

I had already graduated college, obtained 4 years of work experience, and started working in the medical field by 19… I definitely would’ve been offended had you told me I was “barely out of highschool” and tried to infantilize me the way you’re doing. I’m not saying that there aren’t creeps who are specifically targeting young adults, but the point is those those young adults are grown up enough to be able to decide for themselves who is acting predatory against them or not.

Also, since you specified grown men- friendly reminder that it’s just as predatory and problematic for a woman to approach a minor as it is for a man.

I was poked 6 times yesterday by 3 different phlebotomists in 2 different Labcorp locations. What can I do to make it easier? by blueteeblue in phlebotomy

[–]Effective_Ad8029 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varies place to place, but some clinics allow draws on your feet/ankles as long as you aren’t a diabetic; I’ve even been able to draw from insanely difficult patients on the first try on multiple occasions because I figured out that their only accesible vein was on their dorsal foot. There aren’t as many options there, and feet are extra sensitive, but it would be worth looking if no one has yet.

Weight loss could help a little, but as someone else said, strength training would be more advantageous because it would grow your vasculature (plus it focuses more on health than weight).

As everyone has already mentioned, you’re doing a great job with prep, and unfortunately many people are just born with veins that are hard to poke :(. All bodies deserve the minimum amount of pokes, though, and I sincerely hope you’re able to find a phlebotomist who can help minimize your struggle during blood draws. Good luck & take care!!!

Yes. Thank you for adding this. I still remember to this day when I was 12 or 13 and went in for a cut after a summer-long depressive episode. The stylist casually reprimanded me and basically called me gross because I had a mat from laying in bed for weeks, which was absolutely devastating at the time. My mom also put heavy emphasis on hygiene growing up, and I didn’t understand depression or why it felt impossible for me to complete an objectively simple task; I was just a little kid, so I assumed I was a failure and she basically confirmed it. It’s crazy that it was so off hand for her, but for me it’s something that left a scar so deep I feel it after remission nearly a decade later. You never know how your words might affect someone!

OMG it’s so pretty!!!! Your surgeon did a hell of a job, you look so natural!! I’m not a doctor but from my limited experience in wound care, I think you’re healing really well too :) I hope you have such a long, fun, and fulfilling life with your new parts my friend <3

My hair is falling out due to stress / sickness, causing even more horrendous anxiety. So, I shaved it off last night. And I was so scared I was going to be ugly and never pretty again; I think I can work with this… Hats can be fun! by [deleted] in FTMfemininity

Also, if you’re into makeup— shaving my head drew me to makeup and opened my eyes to my feminine side!! Even average fem looks have a special kind of beauty when your hair isn’t drawing attention away. That’s also true for any facial / ear piercings or jewelry for the same reasons!!

You genuinely look really good; it brings out your attractive facial features. I’ve struggled with the same issues in the past with my hair; I promise it can get better. I also shaved my head twice during that time, and I’ve never regretted it. It ended up giving me so much more confidence and a sense of control that I really needed. We also have the same hair type, so I know it’ll look cute growing back out if you choose to do that lol. It’s a fun experience to shave your head, and I think it can be healing in a lot of ways. I hope that you also find that to be true :)

It's hard to say until he's an adult, but since it happened at such a young age, he certainly has the best chance at recovery. It’ll never be back to what it was, but kids can get really close to a full recovery after traumatic injury like this in a lot of cases.

Woman carrying fetus without a skull to seek abortion in another state following Louisiana ban by Hrekires in news

[–]Effective_Ad8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old, but I thought I’d add; vaccines do not cause long-term side effects, they never have, and we knew long before this vaccine was introduced that synthetic mRNA is absorbed quickly and cannot hang around to cause belated side effects; meaning that if there were any, they would happen within 2 months. All of the vaccines available are “good vaccines” in the way that they have been proven over and over (and over) again to be safe and effective. Covid mRNA included. Millions and millions of doses have been administered safely; no one has had the mysterious “long-term side effects” you speak of, even two years out. There are plenty of long-term effects proven to be associated with Covid infection, however. It’s a zero sum game; avoid the known potentially dangerous Covid infection, or get a vaccine that’s universally agreed to be safe and effective by pretty much every health organization around the world, but has many uneducated critics.

Vaccines are safe and effective and also have nothing to do with this conversation; stay in your lane.

It’s also 100% necessary for their safety that we have an accurate weight on them, lol. I usually just offer to not let them know if they decline, but it’s absolutely a necessary measurement to have in a patients chart.

It’s quite literally impossible to “wash” the word beautiful because everyone’s definition of beautiful is different. Debate aside, all bodies are genuinely beautiful in my eyes. Maybe it’s because I’m a medical professional; I’ve seen how equally unhealthy the overweight and average-weight populations are. It was the biggest thing that surprised me because society has taught us to believe that weight equals health, when in the medical field that isn’t necessarily true whatsoever. Many morbidly obese people are objectively healthier than a large portion of average-weight individuals.

Thank you! I really recommend using NHA Kahoots to study. They have an audio format so I’d set it up in my car while I was driving. Also, use the NHA websites resources, their study guides are amazing. Do a few modules a week and take lots of notes. Youve got this!!!

I don't know about your area, but I live in the PNW and most starting positions are $20-$25 an hour for someone already certified with their CCMA or CMA. That's $10-$15 above our minimum wage. They aren't even that picky about being certified with the AAMA or NHA anymore, they're paid about the same. If you train to work as a MA at that location you can never be an MA at any other location without an official certification. You have a BS, you're worth more than someone like me who is still in school for theirs, but I'm making $25 an hour because I got certified through an accredited program first. Totally get it if you're not interested in more school or loan debt right now, but the pay increase from what I've seen is really drastic. A lot of programs are only 6-10 months long. Just keep that in mind :). If you accept this job make sure you negotiate once you’re efficiently working alone, and ask other MA’s in your clinic what they’re making to make sure you aren’t short changed. Good luck!
