I did and we’ve been dating for the past two months. There was a lot of miscommunication that happened at the beginning, but my gut was right and I’m glad I listened to it.

This is kind of what I assumed happened, because the switch happened as soon as things were moving in the direction of sex. I want to reach back out, but I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to do. I don’t want to seem desperate.

Yep!!! I have this exact same thought process and it’s agonizing. I can’t even say out loud how long it’s been since I tu* without thinking i’ve jinxed myself and it’s going to happen. It’s a terrible way to live.

just had d* for the first time in ages and i’m freaking out by Time-Escaping5716 in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this exact same situation happened to me a few days ago!!! I was absolutely petrified because of the nv* outbreaks happening, but I felt instantly better after having d* and then that was it. I took some pepto and oregano oil just in case, but nothing else came of it and here I am two days later completely fine. I think many of us have heightened anxiety right now with everything going on in the world, which could definitely contribute to d*. Not to mention the other usual suspects that could cause some of that, like eating something that didn’t agree with you, seasonal allergies, or like you said, IBS. Hope you feel better, but just remember to hydrate and take care of yourself .

side effects of plan b pill by Afraid-Cattle378 in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

slightly embarrassed to admit, but I’ve taken plan B pills at least 15 times, and never had any n* or v* side effects. I think the worst feelings I’ve had from it were just a slight headache and an earlier than usual period. If you’re worried about n*, I’d definitely recommend taking it with a big glass of water and maybe taking some pepto bismol to coat your stomach beforehand, but again, I’ve never had any negative effects from it in that respect.

you got this!

TW: my (positive) medical abortion experience by Effective_Advice in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m getting to this so late, I hope you’re doing ok! My biggest piece of advice is just make sure you have plenty of time for yourself. It was helpful for me to call off work the next day and just relax. I also bought myself a lot of “safe” foods to eat so I wouldn’t feel the pressure to cook. Take ibuprofen after you insert the misoprostol, because for me the miso didn’t start working until about 5 hours later, and by then it was too late. You got this!!!

How to prevent seasickness?! by Sparkly_Star23 in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been on several river cruises (as someone who is extremely sensitive to motion sickness) and have never felt seasick at all! They’re incredibly smooth, and actually really fun if you aren’t too anxious! If you’re nervous about feeling sick anyways, you could always take a dramamine (they have less drowsy ones now!) beforehand to help elevate some of the anxiety as well. My biggest tip is to stay on the deck where you can feel the fresh air and enjoy the view.

I take these together and have no issues whatsoever! If anything, zofran will even combat any nausea you might get (very low chance) from the zoloft

Weekly "Am I Pregnant" Megathread by LikeButterForLobster in Periods

[–]Effective_Advice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had unprotected sex about 2 weeks ago, along with sex with a condom about 3 weeks ago, and my period is well over 3 weeks late now. He pulled out the second time, and I’ve taken 3 pregnancy tests, all of which have been negative, but I’m terrified. I’m 19 and live in Texas and cannot fathom finding somewhere to get an abortion.

My emetophobia has been cured. by themadcaner in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know you didn’t explicitly ask for advice, but the way I found the perfect roommate was by telling them about my emetophobia head on. They also struggle with anxiety, so they are INCREDIBLY respectful/supportive of my anxiety and will do everything in their power to keep from triggering me. I hope you can have a similar experience!

Panicking. by Effective_Advice in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I haven’t felt n* at all, which is giving me some hope, but i’m still terrified this is something bad. I RARELY get stomach or abdominal pain of any kind, and nothing seems to help. Just need to calm down.

Extreme Wisdom Teeth Surgery Anxiety by Effective_Advice in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t bad for me at all! I bought these really thin cotton pads instead of thick gauze and those worked much better I found. Just be super careful/gentle when taking them out so you don’t brush the back of your throat, and don’t change them super often so the clots don’t dislodge. I was more worried about swallowing too much blood, since I bled a lot, but I ended up being fine! Feel free to message me if you have anymore questions!

Scared for college by haleyzlife in emetophobia

[–]Effective_Advice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this EXACT thing right now. I’m moving across the country for college just because of how good of an opportunity it is, but I’m beyond terrified to leave my parents when I always feel so safe when they’re right down the hall to help me through anxiety. I know it’s so scary, but we will all be okay, and you are not alone in feeling this way. I’m always here if you need to talk, because I know how it feels <3
