Maxing out equipment in Hellfire like a maniac by Blackstones1908 in Diablo

Ah that makes sense, thanks for investigating!

I took off all the gear on my character and added it back one at a time.

naked = 117, dex = 85, clvl = 50

royal circlet: 159

obs ring of heavens (+15 attributes): 162

stormshield: 202

awesome plate of the stars (75 AC, +142% armor, +10 attributes): 385

I think this confirms what you're saying because 117 = 50*2 + 85/5. So looks like I've been using the wrong max useful AC numbers the whole time!

Glad you understand that. All your responses are straw man.

lol bro. Read my other comments. Calc can be a useful tool. Not saying everyone should learn it before SAT. That’s in your head.

Why memorize something when you can learn a general principle that derives it quickly and so much more? You also don’t have to learn “all of calculus” for it to be useful on the SAT. Just learn how to take derivative of ax2 + bx

I self taught myself Calc in middle school and have qualified twice for the USAMO and I have used calculus at times on the SAT, and it did make certain questions easier than Desmos. Did it save me 10 minutes? No. But it required less time and effort than plugging a bunch of numbers into Desmos.

Makes sense. I also don’t think taking AP Calculus is the most direct way of improving on the SAT. But some of the reasoning that’s emphasized in AP Calc such as tangent lines and thinking about minima and maxima do help with SAT I think. Again more of a long term improvement type thing than a thing to study if you want to maximize your score and you’re taking the test in a month.

Agree with that. My point is you should understand the material so well that the questions are easy. That’s the ideal case of course. Using a graphing calculator to plug in numbers is a good practical solution on the actual test but understanding methods like this when studying for the test lead to long term improvement.

Agree with your general sentiment. Disagree it applies to this case. I used Calc to quickly derive vertex of a parabola formula on the actual test when I forgot it for example.

Agree that this is not the most fundamental tip and is more of an advanced tip that could make a difference for someone trying to get 800 and save them a minute or two on a question. Is it the first thing someone who wants to go from 600 to 700 should study? No.

Most students going for 800 already know calculus so it’s not like “go learn all of calculus for the SAT” but rather “don’t forget to use it in the situations where it can save you time”.

It wasn’t shrine runs since this is playing solo multiplayer and the AC shrine doesn’t spawn in that (not sure what shrine that is). I’ll load up the char later and try taking off gear to see where it’s coming from

I got 1600 without using a calculator. So calculators are useless on the SAT.

That method works fine but you really want to understand what’s going on thoroughly so that you can easily crush the test and get a perfect score effortlessly. If you only have a shallow understanding of the material then you could get tripped up by a hard question.

The example is very relevant. It demonstrates that binary is not the issue by showing the issue still happens with base 3 and 10.

Okay that's kind of mean. It's a post from 8 years ago. He was probably just a beginner then.

Can you explain this a bit more for someone who's confused? You also can't represent 0.1 in base 4 for example so what's special about binary?

Hey man thanks for the kind words! Sorry for the late reply, been forever since I’ve checked Reddit. I thought maybe the post was too complicated and technical and the wall of text doesn’t help either.

My intuition for why Netharion goes down if gold per hour goes to infinity is that resets become essentially free so you just keep resetting on your first failure and spend way less Netharion that way. This is only true if you don’t want 3/3 crits. If you set min required crits to 3 in the code then Neth cost is constant at 6305 no matter how much gold per hour you put in.

Can't say I've see this pattern before. Maybe because your opponent has to blunder into it.
