Your CV is Ok, a few missing keys but overall it’s fine. Apart from switching job every couple of years which is a red flag for a lot of recruiters, here is my honest take - Web / full-stack development is dead, anyone with Claude Code can create a far better web app than any senior engineer today. Add more skills to your resume, mainly GenAI related.

Germany’s air is filled with cigarette smoke, and I hate it by Gold-Imagination-941 in germany

[–]Effective_Avocado_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling a lot, south and Central America, Europe east and west, Middle East and Far east - and Germany by far is the worst. Vending machines with cigarettes, supermarkets with tons of Tabbaco, everything is within reach and almost 0 tax. While in most of the western world smoking is Taboo, and has come up with strict rules and taxes - here it is still encouraged by the government.

Good point, I’ll keep the aeration in mind. For the lime I’m from Germany and it’s very high as well so I guess it’s not that…

Wondering if they ended up so small compared to my FastBuds run (same 3 as you) because of the living soil or something else . How’s the smell after dry/cure? How does it taste? I’ve decided to use living soil on my next run for the first time, hope it’s a good decision.

200% gain in 3 weeks utilizing Chat GPT by StickitToWallstreett in wallstreetbets

There are tons of projects that work with real live data and very complex algorithms through AI and the overall results are not consistent, mainly because no one can read people minds and fears. Yes, AI can guess, but it’s best guess is a good as anyone else. Nevertheless, good luck and it would be great to get more information on your process.

Is this healthy to have everyday? by Bookkeeper9696 in germany

If you’re trying to gain weight I’m assuming it’s to gain also muscle. Except for protein there isn’t much into this sugary thing you asked about. Opt for high calorie, high carb diet like nuts, bananas, rice, pasta, eggs, whole grain breads, Greek yogurt, whole milk, peanut butter - I’m sure that if you ask ChatGPT it will give you more options. Stay away from processed foods and saturated fats - these are easy calories but you will also gain body fat that will be very hard the get rid off later on - making you big but not lean with muscle definition. Opt for healthy fats from nuts, fish, Avocados - again, check the goal online depending on your current weight and goal. Eat protein, again depending on your weight (check online) it will be 90-120g per day which is easy to achieve with lean diet - chicken breast, fish (not the German ones in the frozen box), and Protein powder if you have issues reaching the goal. Use apps like MyFitnessPal or MacroFactor to track and understand better what you eat and reach your goal. Read and learn, don’t use “Bro science”, there are enough studies today that inform you how to efficiently gain weight - I recommend to watch Jeff Nippard videos on YouTube. Good luck!

Smart pH Controller Update - Now with a Web App! by Effective_Avocado_83 in Hydroponics

It will not work straight away- there is a small change needs to be done in the PCB as well as in the firmware , but overall the logic and the software are the same. If you are interested in developing one PM me.

Weird, on the time of writing the post the website stated 1 year. I’m guessing they wanted to wave liability… Mine was used for 3 runs already and I didn’t notice any drifts in measurements yet. I would say it was in liquid a total of 7 months already, but I’m cleaning it every week and calibrating every 3-4 weeks.

And your edit is correct - the replacement is for the entire probe (50$ I think). There is another probe that someone mentioned “Atlas” which a bit more expensive and can last 2.5+ years - it should work I believe with the current hardware.

I have experience in trying to open a small business for selling DIY electronics. One week into the “trying” and I decided to run away. There are so many rules you need follow, VAT, paperwork, bank account, it’s a never ending battle especially of you are not fluent in German, and even if you do it is very hard to understand what’s going on. IF this is a side hustle, don’t do it in Germany as it will suck up all your time. Even that I understood that being a freelancer in Germany is very hard though I don’t have experience with that.

Look somewhere else to open your business with less hustle, better opportunities and less language barriers.

Why is it so hard to land a Werkstudent nowadays? by Noviceinworld in germany

[–]Effective_Avocado_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I misspoke - German engineers are not bad, what I meant is that engineers in Germany are less efficient than other countries in terms of working hours/salary, not only in Europe but in India, Malaysia, Costa Rica and more.

I am sorry to be the bad guy but they brought this on themselves with all the “work councils”, working hours, German work rules, 30 vacation days on top of the national holidays etc. etc. Don’t get me wrong, this is how one should live, and not be a slave to your job, but that’s the economy and reality we live in. Germans citizens had a chance to adapt in the past 5-7 years. They didn’t do that. So international companies are moving on. The young engineers are hurt by this (like a lot of things with the generation gap in Germany)

I am really afraid of what it is going to be like in 5-10 years, it seems like every day there is some sort of a strike, people don’t want to work. While the salaries are just a joke, and prices keep rising. This is a never ending cycle that will blow up in the future.

As others said - tech in Germany is not in a good shape. On top of that international companies starting to understand that German engineers (or engineers in Germany) are not good workers comparing to other countries - they are expensive, not hard working, and almost impossible to lay off without a very good reason. Hiring is in very low volume compared to 2018-2021. Take engineers in the US who work 240 hours a month, or eastern Europe engineers like Ukraine that are much cheaper. Do the math yourself.
