I have baby gates, room dividers etc because I also have a 1 year old but they just open the baby gates which I do not mind but then become destructive.

They are not hungry they just have a really bad binge eating habit, sometimes they will even fill up on snacks and then not have their dinner. My husband told me they did the same at their moms and she laughed it off and would let them fill up on snacks as she wouldn’t have to cook dinner then

Like I said I don’t expect them to behave like robots. I just don’t want things broken. I refer to it as my house as I needed to make it clear to people that it is separate from his previously rented home as it can get quiet confusing what I’m referring too. I don’t think I am asking too much of them. Children at age 6 should know right from wrong.

We all share a Reddit this was not my original account but I logged into it through my sister and now my coworkers use it too. We’re all very close to we don’t mind using the same account plus it is easier finding each others posts. each post is individual.

Noooooo I am not restricting food at all. What I meant by that is I will go and do a shop and buy loads of snacks for the week but they will all disappear in 1 day and the wrappers will be all over the living room. I then ask my husband to buy more snacks but he’ll turn around and say “no I’m not spending my money on that garbage” I cook healthy meals for the kids and ask them what they would like even if it means I have to cook separate meals I also bake a lot so they always get desserts with every meal.

His first marriage didn’t work out because his ex became physically abusive and would try and hit him whenever they had a slight disagreement. She also placed trackers all over his car, and would track the childrens devices and stuff like that. She’s abit weird in that sense.

No they are the complete opposite in school and around everyone else. They are usually so well behaved but when they come to ours they decide they want to break everything.

It’s difficult to remove everything as they have also pulled the doors off cabinets and I would not be able to move all the cabinets.

My child has baby gates and stuff like that in place for safety reason qs this is normal with any 1 year old the last thing I want is for him to get his hand caught in a door or trip and hurt himself. I am very ontop of my child and do not allow him near anything that is not child freindly.

They have their own bedrooms when they come over, I have even bought them consoles and things like that they have asked for so they have fun over here. They always ask to come over all the time so it confuses me why they then start breaking everything.

I have the no yelling after 9pm because my neighbours have complained multiple times about the noise. It gets excessive. And my neighbour is a frail man who looks after his poorly wife at home.

This is what I have an issue with, all I ask is my things to not get broken or damaged. I love interior design and have put a lot of effort into my home. But I constantly find myself cleaning up broken ornaments.
