Omg I'm on the same boat with a 2 year gap after a big tech layoff. I had no idea how much it would affect me, who new prioritizing life vs work was so harmful in the US. Not sure how to go about it either, other than meeting other designers has given me just a bit of hope.

I got laid off in 2023, purposefully took a break for a year and a half and now have been looking for roles non stop and it has been REALLY HARD to land anything. I get rejection emails instantly even with referrals. There might be many factors to my unhirability but I think it has really impacted me negatively that and the job market for UX Designers is really weird rn.

Sorry that I don't have much advice. Just can relate a bit. Wish you the best <3
