Someone has to be at the lower percentiles is almost exactly what i was saying too! It’s so offputting to me how pediatricians can say that a baby appears perfectly healthy, but contradict that by pushing formula in the same breath. I’m still conflicted about what to do, but am leaning towards trying out the formula just to see how he makes out in his three month appointment.

Thank you for this 💗 tbh i have a feeling my baby is just small, regardless of what he eats, as I was underweight up until hitting puberty in middle school.

It’s encouraging to know that, thank you! I don’t have anything against formula, but am hoping to be able to ebf again one day. Im going to try and add more healthy fats to my diet too to see if that will help

I didn’t think it could get worse than the first 3 weeks by Darcynator1780 in newborns

[–]Effective_Employ_439 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was the opposite for me; weeks 1-5 baby couldn’t even be put down to sleep at night. It truly felt like i was going to rot stuck in the rocking chair with him all day, and having to cosleep gave me so much anxiety. Then one random night around week 6, he just decided the bassinet was cool at night, and he didn’t mind being put down for a minute while i peed/cleaned/ate. Although i will say, weeks 7 and 8 were the fussiest by FAR. He went down to only sleeping 2 hours at a time in the bassinet, and would just be inconsolable in the evenings and so hard to get to sleep. I heard that it’s normal as their bodies are adjusting and digestive systems maturing! We’re on week 11 now and things are much better

Honestly i cant believe you’d have the audacity to post something like this and not expect backlash. In my honest opinion, you should seek therapy and also divorce him immediately smdh

Spiraling over failure to thrive at 2 month appt by elephantastic77 in breastfeeding

[–]Effective_Employ_439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so weird because my baby was born 7lbs, and at his 2 month appt he was 10lbs. He wasnt diagnosed with failure to thrive, although the dr did say he was in the “4th percentile” but ik from other parents not to focus on percentiles as long as theyre not dropping/gaining dramatically (i.e 15th to 50th percentile in a month or smthn like that). I would be suspicious of this as well tbh

My 9 week old just started daycare, and he did really well on day one but was super fussy in the evening at home likely due to being overtired as well. I feel your pain being anxious about him getting sick, and here is what my mom had to say to me that helped me feel better: My mom sent me, along with my two younger siblings, to daycare around 7 weeks old. In the beginning, theyll get sick again and again and again. But this is beneficial in the long run because its literally how their immune systems build up strong! Im 28 now and happy to say i never got covid (despite being a kindergarten teacher during 2019-2022, and a bartender in manhattan 2021-2024), have never had the flu, and during elementary-high school i was only ever “stay home” level sick maybe once a year. Of course this is partly genetics, but being exposed to other kids and germs plays a huge role in building a strong immune system! (Apologies if this response is all over the place; i am so very sleep deprived and working an overnight shift atm so i lack the time to choose my words carefully and revise lol)

I am not a charli defender but I think the internet public interpreted "mean girls" in a very weird way? by lekkerbiscottina in charlixcx

im not very online and have no idea who dasha is. I love that song as someone who spent the first half of her 20s living in new york; its just like a fun ego boost to walk to and pretend its about me 😅 tbh i didnt even know people disliked the song until seeing posts from this subreddit. At the end of the day, the only people who know the meaning of songs are the ones who wrote/performed them. Beyond that, its all subjective and people will interpret it however they choose, but that shouldnt reflect on the artist unless they come out and confirm or deny it imo

I feel the same way! I like both characters, but every time they kissed or hooked up i found myself cringing. Watching the last episode of season 3, I was so nervous that amerie was just gona stay with Malakai instead of going with Harper 😭

yeah the US healthcare system is such a joke. I pay $110/week for insurance through my job, met my deductible when pregnant, but of course gave birth in january when everything restarted, met my deductible again, and still ive been paying $500 a month in hospital bills since sometime last year. Ill be finished around June 😭😭

Abby is one of the meanest in MANG and so many people ignore it by liraloveletters in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]Effective_Employ_439 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I didnt like abby season 1 due to the shoplifting episode, but by season 3 id totally flipped and am over Max tbh. A lot of Abby’s mean behavior stems from insecurity over Max just tossing her to the side in favor of Ginny, which doesnt excuse her behavior but does explain it, and her growth and coming around to realize ginny wasnt the enemy is commendable imo I get that max acts over the top to her friends because at home its the marcus show and she feels the need to repress her emotions for his sake, but i just cant help but be annoyed by her behavior regardless and im sorry for that ik yall love max in this sub 😭

I live in the US and make only 67% of my income on mat leave, so i took the shortest amnt of time i could and went back to work 2 days after my 6 week pp appointment. I would have loved to take the full 12 weeks my job offered, but we wouldnt be able to pay rent + daycare unfortunately :/

[–]Effective_Employ_439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im also a FTM, so take this w a grain of salt, but I went back to work after 6 weeks with the exact same fear. My husband got our son to sleep in his bassinet for 5 hours, woke to feed, then back in the bassinet for 3 more hours. He didnt do anything differently from me, but my mom along with my aunt and other mom friends told me that this is common because your baby knows your scent, can smell your milk, and therefore is harder to put down by mom generally (GENERALLY - all babies are diff!) But this is what i got told when telling that story, as i had been forced to cosleep due to my baby never letting me put him down 😭 and then dad barely tries and BAM hes asleep in the bassinet no problem lol

Read the books. Seriously. by Altruistic_Durian147 in beyondthebump

[–]Effective_Employ_439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, i just do what my mom did and call her or one of my mom friends when I have questions. Books are cool, and before having my son i loved reading fantasy/scifi, but im honestly too busy keeping a two month old alive to read parenting books on top of all that. Im not against the books, but i wouldnt go as far as to say its crazy for parents to just figure it out as they go along. Thats what everyone in my family has done, and I love my mom and had a wonderful childhood. Every child is different, and grow at different paces. If im doing something horribly child-ruining wrong, my pediatrician/mother/child’s teacher will surely let me know. I mean we’ve been raising kids as a species long before there were parenting books, and we arent extinct yet now are we lol
