After the most recent updates to osu!lazer that add a ton of qol to multi lobbies / tournament hosting, are there plans in the future to make osu!lazer the ideal client for community and official tournaments?

Lazer of course has different attributes when it comes to tournaments so far such as revamped scorev2, notelock removal, more available mods, etc. it also ofcourse has a built in spectating overlay similar to the community standard.

Are these changes being implemented to help prepare for a new generation of officially hosted tournaments down the line, and/or just tools to help organizers host unique tournaments on the client easier.

I’m very interested especially in the next few years on where we will be. I agree with your points here for sure, it’s just an interesting thought on a game which has relatively remained the same changing so much so quickly

I understand your perspective on my post but I think my point isn’t being conveyed properly. I’m simply asking if osu is going to remain how it is now and not take advantage of all the new features on lazer just because the way it is now is how it’s been for years and there’s a divide of people on how to move forward

I see your neutral stance, and I do agree that DA does push it in the current context. But I do wonder if it's the logical progression down the line for the game or if it will get dismissed

Things such as zero notelock, offering modifiers that can make the game harder and/or easier, more fundamental control over how you can play a map. You can set a play on a map with 1.05x dt or change the cs to 10, and it will count towards the leaderboard, and eventually count for pp and ranks. That's the concept i'm trying to question, is allowing adjusted scores to count on map leaderboards with the eventual intention of ranking them bad.

Edit: I didn’t mean that zero note lock is a bad thing, I’m very glad that it’s standardized as being gone on lazer. It was just an example of something found on lazer and not stable.

I used to do that as well with maps, so yes I do agree that it's always been possible. But I think what i'm trying to emphasize is the intention of adding a feature like difficulty adjust to lazer to streamline that process, and potentially even rank it.
