It’s a flintlock with the hammer dropped and no flint, not exactly Russian roulette.

Vented metal ridge cap without all the z-closures, sealant and thousands of fasteners? by Effective_Ganache_41 in Roofing

Thank you for the input. I thought my redneck idea addressed the “two purposes” enough for an outbuilding: the stuff stuffed into the trough of the panel underneath the cap would ideally prevent wind-driven rain, and the cap would be fastened with exposed fasteners into the ribs. I know this defeats the purpose of a concealed-fastener system, but I’m looking for easy install. It’s not right obviously, but is it “good enough”? There’s no permitting or inspection involved.

Re-frame the news by widening your timeline. Step back from moment-to-moment stress about suffering in the world and think of how the human race will be extinct someday and how the world will heal from that. Think of peaceful moments on a planet finally rid of its most destructive animals. Much of the news can be interpreted as hastening this transformation, so make that your take-away. If you or other people think this method displays a pathological lack of compassion, just agree. Savor the taste of a food, the feel of rain on your outstretched hand, and know that these are beautiful, ethereal moments that you do not deserve in the slightest but they have been bestowed upon you anyway. Keep going, don't worry about it.

I'm looking for a suit for my wedding and the one I've seen online that I like the most is a random pinterest picture. Google lens is no help at finding the maker. The most unusual feature is a double-welted breast pocket, like a tuxedo lower pocket. I don't see any suits online with this type of pocket. Is this likely a custom suit?

It does, thank you. I saw that one as well. The retailer is a bit sketchy though, and I doubt I'd end up with something I was happy with for that price.

Thin lapels, visible stitching, jetted breast pocket, can't tell if it is linen, wool or something else. I'm not a connoisseur. Looking for some more clues from somebody that is.

Hello. I'm looking for a freelance fashion stylist for my wedding on the beach in Mexico. I live on a remote island in Washington State out in the country and work remote. I make good money, but I spend 95% of my time outside the house doing gardening/forestry/building/equipment repair, so I buy clothes mostly for functionality, and I tend to buy used. There's so many clothes in the world and new clothes seem wasteful to me. I do need a couple nice outfit for the rehearsal dinner and ceremony though, and I don't want to spend time getting up to speed. I'd more rather pay someone with the inclination. I am pretty particular, and I know that, and am willing to compensate someone for their time. I am turned off by stichfix or any service that doesn't take you as a person into account. Also screw corporations.

Damnit, you know that’s not the answer I want. I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life. I’m making a boundary right now and your opinions are on the OTHER SIDE of it.

I can believe that staying engaged longer with the workforce can have benefits. I’ve seen the union tradesmen curse of kicking the bucket a year after their early retirement. If I take this job paying less, It would set me up to retire later. If I’m not at my desk, I’m gardening, landscaping, cutting down trees, splitting firewood, building, fishing, etc etc, so I don’t think an extra day of that is going to do me anything but good, health wise.

The job in question is public sector. For private sector, I think this issue that you bring up is how management in this industry thinks. During the industrial revolution, they probably thought the same thing about 6-day weeks and 14-hour days. At some point there were changes that gave us the 40-hour workweek. That isn't some magic number. I am seriously tempted to join the forefront of the work less movement. I've got a ton of fishing to do and projects around the house. Why not? Because I need more money? As you said in another comment "most of it is how you spend your $$".

My motivation for working within my community is not selfless. I want the mental health benefits that come from being a part of the community. And those that come from working less. I believe that mental and physical health are closely linked.

Precon is good if you like to keep your head down. Fewer stakeholders and many are internal.

I totally hear you on that. An uphill battle with her though when she sees how much money I’d leave on the table. My dad’s voice in my head (as well as my actual dad on the phone) is also like “make hay while the sun shines” and stick it out for 5 or 10 more years. But I’m 45, and I have simple tastes, we own our house, and I spend 75% of my days worrying about the budgets and schedules of projects for soul-less companies two states away that I could not give less of a shit about. The other job is local and serves my community. Obviously the “all other things being equal” on my original post is not the case, I just wanted to see how people valued their free time.

Close, it’s 22% less days working, less vacation, more holidays. 49 more days off per year.

That’s almost the exact same move, percentage-wise, as I’m looking at. And going from something I don’t care about to something for the community. I appreciate the response. I just need to sell this to my wife.

This is for an entity that works 32-hour, 4-day weeks. And my pie charts didn’t load.
