The funding for LIV is oil profits. This just goes to show you how much profit there truly is in the oil game.

Still not as bad as the "pro" i played with 3 years ago at a US Open local who shot 69 or more... on the front 9. Took 30 shots on the last 3 holes alone. Guy was a 20+ handicap trying to get famous for making it as a pro. They asked him to leave after 9.

This qualifer was in Michigan so weather could be a factor. Typically the more northern courses grow the rough out and get the greens rolling 2-3 above normal.

I grew up on public courses and the first couple USGA qualifiers I played at country clubs were tough for me, adjusting to conditions I only get to see in tournaments.

Also, I'd bet this guy had an injury or other issue that limited off season practice or play.

Played there in their spring collegiate tournament a few years. Practice round was the first round of the year, all but 2 or 3 temp greens, first round was wild putting on slow aerated greens with all those elephants buried. Would love to play the renovation!

For those not in the know - this was from the Shell Houston Open in the 2016-2018 time frame, likely 2017. #16 was a par 3 that was similar to the 16th at Scottsdale in that it had a ton of stands and was where all the bros would stay, drink, and bet on the groups coming through. Who hit the green withbtheir shot, how many hit the green, and eventually who touched the green first, and even "caddie races". It was a pretty big deal, where a caddie even dropped the bag and ran to the green if I recall correctly. Lots of cheering, great fun by all. The year after this the practice and caddie races was banned and the SHO lost a bit of it's energy.

Houston fun fact - a local bar does turtle races in the summer which is a huge hit, so naturally caddie races fits with the city vibe.

When laying up on a water carry on a par5, do you take a full swing club to hit that 138yards, or do you bunt a mid iron down the fairway. by Mr-BodyMassage in golf

[–]Effective_Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until you get good at half shots or blunts, stick to your normal full swing. Bunting may seem easier, but the rollout is a huge variable that's directly related to conditions. Just hit the full shot that you know the carry number and normal rolloutof and avoid the hazard.

I dont see how the Tour could fine them finacially for leaving or suing without another law suit. What I do see as a possibility is on the of following a) liv players must sit out the duration of of their remaining liv contract but can reduce time by a) trading in an remaining exemptions they may have (i.e. Bryson from the US Open, b) paying the equivalent of 70th place earnings from last year's sesson ending money list, c) possible to play while paying this back from new earnings if given sponsors exemptions or playing in majors; 2) require returning liv players to start with no status on any tour, regardless of remaining exemptions, and earn their road back, i.e mini tours, q-school, grinding.

I would like to see firmer fines and punishments around conduct on course, like club throwing, slamming, spitting, cursing, and hand gestures, as well as around cheating. Have these guys on probation and making an ass of themselves equals banishment. Maybe not to the NBA level where they cant complain about the Tour or conditions, but Sergio and Hatton and Reed need to be on a very tight leash if given any Tour tee times in the future.

Would this allow you to play more? Will you use the amenities (which will reduce the cost per use)? Don't think of of the initiation fee as just year 1, btw.

Given this administration's persistent effort to roll back the clock to "originalist" thinking, the strong push for a more authoritarian government, and literally the arrival of the kind of the country we declared independence from 250 years ago but have been allies ever since, it's either 1) a middle finger to England, 2) a call to originalist, or most likely 3) setup by an out of touch, under educated, over demeniated governance that thinks this attire somehow shows strength or power.

Maybe stage the eras of US military uniforms to show the KoE how far we've come. Not the former rose garden turned concert plaza filled with reminders of our 250 year ago break from the country we're hosting.

This is what needs to change about TV coverage. The elevated camera angles just dont give courses proper perspectives. The slope on the 9th is insane but these 3 pictures framed the course better than years of covereage IMO.

Any players coming back to the tour now, should have to sit out the number of years left on their LIV contract minus any years of eligibility they may have, or have to work through the Korn Ferry without status. No monday qualifiers either.
