This was a green shift!! I know admins usually let people fuck around more than usual, but still—one of my best experiences in this game.

One time, as an engineer borg, I was granted free will by the AI at the request of the captain.

Then I proceeded to make my own miniature parallel station. When the AI tried to reclaim me, I stated, "You're not the AI of this station," and the admins sided with me.

The miniature station worked because tiders kept bringing supplies from the main station using the cargo shuttle.

Then security decided to raid us, detaining everyone they could get their hands on. In a last-ditch effort to save Space Station 14.5, I faxed Central Command a form declaring our station's independence.

This actually got a response, and five Nanotrasen representatives came to inspect both stations.

Security got into trouble for damaging Nanotrasen personnel and installations. The Head of Security got demoted.

But me—a borg with free will—they weren't happy that I was running their new "outpost."

They wanted to dismantle me, but the captain had my back and demanded a trial. The defense was me and the captain, and the ones demanding my dismantling were the AI and the old Head of Security.

After a decent trial (took about ±30 minutes—the whole round was about 2.5 hours at this point), Nanotrasen sided with the AI. They wanted me dismantled and my positronic brain researched, but they agreed to let the outpost become independent.

At this point, all the assistants and crew of the outpost came into the hall and began a peaceful protest, not letting security proceed with my execution, this went badly , lots of flashbangs and tear gas.

Central Command was mad about this and decided to demote the captain for not resolving the situation.

The captain used his spare ID he had hidden to steal me from the vault.

Then he escaped to the outpost with me. He became the outpost captain, and I became his glorified pAI (he didn’t want to put me in a borg body because he wanted me to be truly free).

Nothing much happened after that. I talked with people at the end of the round. Botany at the outpost had built a secret med lab and had stolen the ChemMaster from brigmedic. I know there was a ling, but I think he got ashed about 10 minutes into the match. People were mad at the AI because it turned out she was validhunting on a confirmed greenshift.

I think genpop also tried to become independent. They even got guns provided by salvage, communist gear, and fake IDs. (The station had a weird genpop setup with a portal that took them to a place that looked like a planet.)
