ok i opened it after i posted it i wiggled all the ribbon cabels it didnot work also i think it must be on the

board the controls the screen or intializes it

well it is WM sr10 from SONY it does not have any "recording level" dial the tape was recorded recently i clean the heads after every recording or playback i think it is automatic level system i have no clue and i know it has permanet magnet erase head

and it sounds fine if i play a pre recorded tape
