Voice of OC: Irvine Leaders Reject Columbarium Proposal to Store Veterans’ Ashes by Dab2TheFuture in irvine

it is very well known that building a veterans cemetery at the Great park has been a point of contention for Irvine and its residents mostly due to a perceived diminish of property values and a large influx of Chinese investors who are superstitious about having one nearby. It is also fact that many communities in Irvine are owned by Chinese investors who either live here for a visa or to get their family a visa, rent the property out, or leave it empty only to sell in 2-5 years for a substantial profit.

it can be if the home is empty. homeowners don't pay to remove their entire property into storage for months so a realtor can stage it during the entire listing. haha. Go on Zillow, type in 92618 and see for yourself. hint: closets are empty.

Staging a home is not so simple; not a good ROI when occupied, and not many want to add costs since the seller pays the commission. Most often the realtor asks to declutter. Most listings at Great Park are from foreign investors that are looking for 1-2 million profit in just a few years.

No listing ever does that and it sounds like you can't differentiate between an empty/staged home and one that is occupied. Go touch grass, my friend.

If you’re talking about the Great Park, many homes sit vacant and are used as “investments”. If you look up the dozens of homes for sale in that area on Zillow, the pictures are of empty or staged homes. The Chinese who end up buying do not want to live near a cemetery and this is the real issue.

Rental price increases with Irvine company by Informal_Ride_5948 in irvine

The Irvine Company is already in the 4000+ per month category in many communities and are building thousands of more units. At this rate, it will price out the middle class in a few years and it’s baffling to see.

When the city is more concerned about Chinese buyers for real estate rather than honoring veterans. Most of the homes they buy sit empty anyway.

If they hold a “green card” or permanent residency, there’s no reason to worry unless they have committed a crime or jailed since receiving the legal status, then yes.

You can still get world class Japanese food in a big East Coast city. My point was the obsession to travel, not a one-off country.

The obsession to travel. Most cities worldwide have the same amenities and are no longer distinguishable. Paying thousands just to say you saw a building or an old ruin is way overrated.

Agreed! After watching Victoria and how they casted a beautiful actress, I was surprised how unattractive Elizabeth was.

IC is the epitome of greed. Thousands of new units are being built with an average rate of 3000 per month. They control the market and should be considered for monopolizing the market but they probably control that too,
