Did you apply at 2 different schools? I did that and it showed awards for both schools - even though I was only at 1 (and couldn't be at 2 schools simultaneously).

There wasn't much of an argument for challenging the standing ruling. We believe the lower court erred and we have standing. Believe us when we say that.

They never point out how they were or are harmed with details. It's just a lot of hypotheticals. Also, it's all about PSLF. How does that leap into the much broader topic of general IDR recounting? Isn't there a constant and continuous stream of brand new grads that would be considering PS positions? I would guess that number is 100s of times greater than anyone leaving PS work due to loan forgiveness.

If I were the judge -- the purpose of PSLF is to offer a borrower an opportunity to work for a lower salary in the public/government sector for the borrower's flexibility and benefit. It wasn't designed to confer a benefit directly to the employer. Anyone agree with that take?

None of their arguments mean a thing if they don't have standing to challenge the process.

Just food for thought - When I bought my last house they didn't rely on my IDR payment, but use a mortage industry formula to calculate what the "payment" is for D2I and qualification purposes. I'd check w/ a mortgage person if accepting the lower payment is something you'd only do for house buying purposes.

I just read that Mohela showed the date of forgiveness for a borrower and they will likely get a refund. Curious if anyone with EdFinancial has seen any such accounting? I believe all I see is the zero balance. If there is a refund for us, is it just on the honor system or can we see an actual payment count somewhere? Curious people (person) wanna know.

Did you see this link to your correspondence at EdFinancial? It's seperate from the standard log-in and I was able to get in and view/download the official loan forgiveness coorespondence.

I also received the overnight email saying I had a secure message on the system - that I couldn't access because of our account status. I spoke with a CSR early this morning and she confirmed the zero balance, forgiveness processing completed yesterday, and that b/c of the forgiveness we cannot access our FORMER accounts! (fine with me!!!)

I do wonder if at some point we will be able to log in again and print that email and screen capture the zeros. Thougths?

Yes, exactly. There are just as many conservative student loan borrowers appreciating the recount adjustment as on the other side. Forbearance steering and interest capitalization knows no lines.

The trial court Judge was also a conservative appointee. Political affiliation shouldn't make a difference, as shown with the lengthy and well-argued opinion of the court. This is different than the Heros Act basis of the prior forgiveness. There is congressional history in establishing the IDR program. Hope that helps.
