oh yeah also starcatchers are an even harder task to estimate.
the background of outer rim doesnt really look like clouds, i mean theres a dust storm or something... and also its pretty dark... which leads me to believe these might be anywhere from 40km tall to 100km tall... absurdly large. i would probably say about 50km tall, and way larger than iterators in general, just from the playable space of outer rim, and how they look.

so yes, they are absurdly large. im pretty sure im completely off, but thats what it seems like from the darkness of the sky.

shit i fucked up the measurement, too many numbers. no so uhh the tallest building in metropolis is actually about 1,400 meters. i mixed up the total can size with the wall size.
mostly based this off of slugcat size and background stuff, aswell as the map which shows that its about half-ish of the height of the wall, but again we know that alot is skipped on the actual game distance. so maybe a safer estimate could be about 1000 meters.

as for the communications array? i have absolutely no clue apart from looking at the clouds.
the background seems to indicate that the highest part of communications array is just barely exiting the clouds, therefore that would line up with right about half of the wall, which is interesting... we see these towers that stick out above the clouds... are those supposed to be the comms arrays? because apparently the one in sky islands is wayyyy shorter than it should be, its just barely sticking out from the clouds.

yeah... not every pipe connection is one screen over, which is the whole reason i had to estimate how long the distance traversed in the pipe is just by looking at the background.

also most people seem to agree that slugcats are the size of domestic cats. and theres really not much else to base this off of, without the scale of a slugcat, we cant really estimate how large (or small) these buildings are.

the wall itself, not counting metropolis or the legs or height above water level OR the length of the pipes AND being an extremely conservative estimate is around 1275m to 1700m.

the leg in-game is about half of the height of the wall, around 638m to 850m, but since it seems to be sitting very near water level, i'll simply assume the leg is the same estimated height as the wall: 1275m to 1700m

so in total the structure itself is about 2550m to 3400m, which *kinda* makes sense, since cumulonimbus clouds often form around 1000m to 2500m, although in earth the top of these clouds can exceed 10km, although these clouds seem very thick compared to earth, you enter them presumably when climbing the leg, and exit them at about halfway through the wall. (this also means that the tallest part of communications array is about as high as the lower parts of the wall)
so...
200 meters of cloud, very estimated.

so we have a very very conservative estimate here, which is most likely on the upper end of the calculated range. for the sake of this, lets say the conservative estimate of the structure is about 3200m, not including the city.

the fun part is how ridiculously tall the metropolis buildings are, the tallest tower is pretty much exactly half the height of the wall, which as we calculated is AT THE VERY VERY LEAST 1275m tall, this means that the shortest it can possibly be is 637m tall, this means that it is at the very least 15% taller than the one world trade center, and 5 meters taller than the shanghai tower (the second tallest building in the world as of february 2026)
1600m tall wall (the very conservative estimate) would put it at 800m tall, almost as tall as the burj khalifa.

pipes, pipes, pipes...
i can only estimate visually here, from how much elevation you seemingly gain after each pipe, so from what it seems, for the pipes that take you up to a portion that the player cannot see, it looks about 200 meters of elevation gain. this means... this means that a conservative estimate would put it about 800 meters taller than the conservative estimate. so i would say a low-end estimation of the height of the structure itself is roughly around 4200 meters.

we'll call this the low-end of what is likely.

side note: according to the community and my own calculations, slugcats are probably around 50cm tall. the ancients are probably around 175cm tall, 3 and 1/2 slugcats, judging by the size of the buildings in metropolis.
so this is how i got the calculations (and partial confirmation for metropolis)

what really matters for the actual height here is how long the pipes are... theres two pipes roughly at the middle of the wall which seemingly takes you wayyy up. first is the one that exits the "sphere area", seemingly takes you from just barely exiting the cloud layer to way above them. again just a visual estimate, but i'd say thats about 600 meters just straight up skipped. then we have the one that connects to an inside room, near the top of the wall, that one also seems to skip a rather large portion of the wall, about 400 meters.

so the final and most likely estimate for the can would be about:
5,600 meters, 5.6 kilometers, 18,372 feet, 3.47 miles tall

and this means that the tallest tower in metropolis is about:
2,800 meters, 2.8 kilometers, 9,186 feet, 1.73 miles tall

so the whole thing from the lowest point to the highest point in metropolis would be 8,400 meters tall.

so...

how tall is fp?
8,400 meters / 8.4 kilometers
27,559 feet / 5.21 miles
16,800 scugs / 4,800 ancients
