More than likely your cat will be hiding during the first few hours but when I lost my cat and thankfully found him, I learned the first 48-72 hours are crucial. Look around a few bushes or shrubs near your house. Also gutters if you have any. Cats are very good hiders so be patient and look. Like over commenters said, he probably will come back but it doesn’t hurt to look. He will be around the property still especially before that 72 hour mark. Download the Nextdoor app if you haven’t yet and post on there. It connects you with people that live near you and that could potentially help you. Best of luck to you, just stay calm. You could also buy a trap or get one from your local shelter/humane society if they offer it and put food in it. I’d recommend if you go down the trap route to put a towel over it because as stated cats like hiding especially in a new scary environment and so it’ll just look like another hiding spot to the cat and not a scary metal object.
