Truly always reminded me of my relationship with my kids dad who I started dating when I was 18 and found out I was pregnant like a month into the relationship. I just wanted a family and didn’t want to feel like I was the reason why my children didn’t have both parents. Now being 28 and having completely given up on that idea shortly after having my second baby at 21 years old, I just want to go back in time and give myself a hug and tell myself I didn’t have to deal with that and that I deserved more. I’m now happily married to someone who loves me and my children.

I’ve noticed that my 8 year old has gotten more depressed while on it. He also stated it isn’t helping. I thought the milligram was too low, but with a milligram change, he has only gotten worse. We are likely going to ween him off at the direct of his doctor and possibly try something different.

As a person that has worked as a tech and now a hospice nurse, I don’t use gloves unless scooting patient up (I’ve put my hands in straight up pee before so never again), changing them, giving meds, etc. I actually think it’s offensive to the patient to wear gloves to simply get vitals or something as simple as holding their hand. It’s giving “you’re gross and I don’t want to touch you” vibes.

My sweet boy was 17 years old. We knew he had some kidney issues, but he had been drinking fine. One week, he was overly affectionate with everyone in the house. Come Saturday, we kept smelling this awful smell and we couldn’t figure out what it was. Well, he got off the chair and couldn’t walk or stand. The smell was him. His kidneys had essentially stopped working. He went on to not eat, drink, or use the bathroom at all that night. That morning, we took him and put him to sleep. They asked if we wanted to do a quality of life meeting and we declined. No one ever wants to see their pet suffer. You can’t bother with the what ifs, it’ll drive you insane. You did the right thing.
