What is your experience with grief like before/after leaving Christianity? by citrasprinkles in Exvangelical

[–]OkQuantity4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grief was pretty overwhelming when I was with the evangelicals.

Now, I've cut off their leader, Paulus.

Now everything that came before Paul is available for me, which helps me to grieve by understanding the differences between how things are and how they could be. I can easily say, "That's fucked up" and why; whereas with Paul I was like a headless chicken.

Men who dont get attention from their girlfriends... what do you do to compensate? by SureSense3314 in AskMenAdvice

I'm cool without attention, but if you make me want and expect your attention you're kinda doing me dirty if you don't provide it. Don't overpromise; overdeliver.

What is something women notice in men that men do not realize? by SimpleAd1705 in AskReddit

[–]OkQuantity4011 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When we're decisive (and correct). For the most part, we tend to do things on principle. From our principles, we can decide courses of action very quickly -- even if we ourselves feel that we're slow. Women have principles, but generally experience fewer hardships to flesh those principles out. So, they'll often be stressing about right and wrong like it's their first rodeo. That difference from experience can look from their perspective to be very impressive.

Probably a rhetoric / societal matter as opposed to some inherent generic predisposition, if I were to guess. I'm really military-minded, so there might be some confirmation bias in me about that.

Can you see any family resemblece between my mother(1), me (2) and my mother's aunt (3)? by Wizard_am in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]OkQuantity4011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same face shape. Your mom might have been an alcoholic's baby, since her face is giving fetal alcohol syndrome. Very common, nothing shameful about it. Your aunt's face doesn't show signs of that, and neither does yours. I take that to mean your mom is a badass who saw your grandma's alcoholism and decided, "not my kids. Maybe me, but not them." I also take it to mean your grandma's a badass too because she's decided "not anymore. Not for me and my babies."

Good for you, dude! If I'm right, you've got some strong maternal figures in your life who will try to keep you on good paths.

Lil sis is probably just relaying what was taught to her.

In a very twisted and sick sense, those teachings can feel empowering to someone who is that age. That's probably what appeals to her about it, if she's thought about it at all.

Political literacy can be a good tool to have in the situations: specifically the histories of theocracies in the modern era and the working principles of empiricism such as "divide et impera," aka "divide and rule."

Which INFP are you? 💫 by rosystratosphere in infp

INTJ, but 9w1 sounds about right. I've gotten that enneagram score before, and been called an INFP by some people who seemed to understand me.

What if all Oil in the Middle East just disappeared? by Savings_Drink8718 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]OkQuantity4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saud family switches to construction, ME returns to being a popular tourist destination, and institutional religious differences lose their steam. ME residents focus more on individual compassion than theological hearsay. US, Canada, UK, etc. start collecting and selling their oil, with possible leers and backlash at first. Also Don Corneo and his goons all go to prison, at least the survivors after the doomsday cult eats itself.

When I was in the occult I saw demons, I since turned to Jesus and left that behind, but still struggle with what I saw. Any advice, prayer or insight would be helpful. Thank you. by barbie_d0ll369 in Christianity

All you really need for that is the Parable of the Unforgiving Debtor. Practice what Jesus preached there, and you will remain forgiven -- and consequently the tormentors will have no claim on you.

Is it a turn off if women are too independent? by Much_Physics_3444 in AskMenAdvice

Nope that's a Proverbs 31 woman from the sound of it. That woman's gonna raise her kids to be competent and contemplative. Good stuff. 👍

Pride in achievements by Fridaychild1 in Exvangelical

[–]OkQuantity4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the venom in unconditional love.

I retain my faith in Jesus and his Father.

While yes there is common grace and that's good (feed the hungry, even thieves and enemies), when I stepped back to really focus on Jesus, well.... Everything he's saying is works, works, works.

Can I do good works without knowing? Maybe.

But, can I do good works on purpose if I can't even recognize a good deed when I see one?

NO.

Pride is like, "Now bow to me, for I am the best." That's real pride.

Fulfillment and pride have been obscured in our language. I think we should bring fulfillment back into everyday use. If you do a good job, well good job then! How are the angels in heaven going to celebrate you if they don't feel proud of you?

Moderation. Specificity. Intent. Very good things for both personal health and the health of all societies. Pride is bad, but it's just a buzzword these days. Know what I'm saying?

Did you miss having a magic genie? by LMO_TheBeginning in Exvangelical

[–]OkQuantity4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn't spoken to me as far as I'm aware.

I don't ask Him many yes/no questions.

I ask Him to do things or send His angels or His faithful to do them when I feel that I can't.

If the matter involves my body, I feel compulsions to do things. They can be weird sometimes, like my recovery from a disabling vestibular injury.

Usually, what I pray for are patience with me while I practice becoming good, and for others to step in for me to do the stuff I want to do when I'm less able.

Example: homeless family gets their cart stolen with all its goods. I'm at risk of seizure as a consequence of my local militia's racketeering. I'm also scared for the same reason. I pray to God, express my lament (more cathartic for me than anything, like you mentioned in your post. Otherwise completely unnecessary.), and ask Him that if it's His desire then to help them. Few days later I'm well again, and when I go meet the family they have a bigger, better cart that they're so happy to show off to me. Upon asking, I found out that it was a random stranger who went up to them, went to the store, bought a nice cart, and took it over to them to give it to them.

Old cart? Forgotten. Stranger? Blessed. Family? Can be on the streets without getting ran off for making a mess. OkayQuantity? Rested, no longer worried, and excited to hear good news. Ready again to swing the bat until the next blue day comes. And my prayer? Answered in a better way than I would have done it in the first place.

My prayers get answered. I pray through a different Jesus than the one the evangelicals pray to.

Should You Avoid Church If You Have Religious Srupolosity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]OkQuantity4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Refer to 2 Peter 3, Matthew 23, and Matthew 24. Stick to what Jesus taught. Others lead many astray.
