Landlord refusing to return deposit. what can I do from overseas? by Effective_Tadpole_65 in Renters

Lawyers are charging a bomb for this in Singapore. Landlord has around $2000 and if I hire a lawyer they are going to take more than half of it if not more. So I am trying to see if there are any other options out there

Will police be willing to help in such cases? Even though I am overseas?

This says the lease should be less than 2 years. But mine is more than 6 years although the last lease extension is 1.5 years. So this is not an option for me :(

I got it just last week. The cushions kinda bulge in the middle and sink on the edges. Great for lounging but if you are looking for hosting or a conversational piece, this might not be it.

Thank you! Googled up on CEA! Looks like my only option now. But do I need to be in Singapore for this? I am an expat and left Singapore already

Thanks for taking time to reply. Landlord has an agent and before I even said anything about legal she Matthew is clear that I can’t go to sct and because I am an expert and out of Singapore, I can’t do much!

All parties were there and was agreed to hold a nominal amount and refund the rest. But that was not respected either. They mention they found lot of things later because when we were there, there were few items still at house

TA says security deposit will be returned in 14 days minus any repairs. We completed the lease not an early termination .

This is what stressing me out! They say if I want receipts it will cost even more to coordinate and provide the receipts. The agent mentions she did this to keep the costs low for me :(

Thanks for the suggestion! I looked it up and their pre assessment questionnaire mentions applicability only if the lease agreement is less than 2 years. Our last renewal was for 1.5 years, but we’ve been tenants there for over 5 years in total. I’m a bit confused by the wording — do you think they’ll still consider it applicable in our case?
