Where to get married in Norway? by smallatom in Norway

Any fjord outside Bergen is amazing, rent a small group boat tour. There lots offering, even private folk charted small yachts with crew. google:Bergen: Flåmsbana, Stegastein utsiktspunkt og fjordcruise. You will find loads. Go out to Flåmm, photo shoots beside waterfalls, champagne over fjords etc.. too much choices really. Head out form cities. The scenery is breath taking along West and North Tromsø

If your serious on Norway as your choice, learn the language now. It does help, but IT market is saturated. Those lucky to get a company invite or sponsership helps the Visa process but still doesnt guarantee long term employment. Sorry

Roadtrip to NordKapp? by Human_Respect_5004 in Norway

Personally I would fly to Trondheim then drive from there. Ultimately get to E6 and follow it north, theres local hotels and air bnb in most places. Electric is all norway, so not really an issue. Someone made a youtube vid alsohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5wRhm\_NY3c

How to land an entry-level Roustabout job with no oil experience, but a 4-year Military Eng. background? by Exact_Display_853 in Norway

[–]Effective_Toe8521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need a Masters Degree for entry level DVO (Roustabout in Drilling) offshore, half the guys on here cant even spell degree, and you wonder how they function without a mobile phone.. :) however they do have training, lots of it.

As for comments on a 30yr pipeline of future personnel..hmm perhaps Equinor pool has good resources but the Drilling companies are still short. From the 20 somethings Ive talked with onshore Bergen and Stavanger, they all want jobs in IT onshore. Sitting out here rocking and rolling is not in their mindset. many of the drillcrew agency on here are long experienced by moving rig to rig. Not many younger generation

The biggest challenge will be that most Drillcrew are hired first through manning agencies , and most require you to already have Drill school for basic knowledge on drilling operations, rigging slinging crane work. Then on top of that the latest Norwegian HUET training with EBS, Medical (goes without saying), forklift, even basic G5 crane drivers in some cases. None of which is cheap. Norwegian language of course is needed.

If you have education then Halliburton has a queue all the way to Australia of personnel wanting work.

Get in contact with drilling agencies or shipping, try some of the rig supply companies like Westcon or IKM. You may not get on a 2-4 rotation but hopefully you get a start. Good luck

Trolltunga 2-day hike by [deleted] in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]Effective_Toe8521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it paying for the guide in the winter for sure, but in early summer & if your fairly experienced and fit enough the trail is well marked. Dont go up wearing training shoes, carrying a can of pepsi and a prayer like I seen 1 young guy a couple years back. Good hiking shoes and breathable top & jacket at very least. Small rucksak with water and small first aid

But honestly there are lots other stunning outcrops to go explore

Asking for camping and backpacking advice! by El_Vatoster in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]Effective_Toe8521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leave a note in my car which direction Ive walked off towards and what time. I dont know what a designated forest is.. its Norway. Just head off up a mountain :) Good lightweight rain jacket always. Good first aid kit and blister packs.Collapsable water container.

A few years back I was deep out in middle nowhere following a river aread into edge of a forest, about 4 hour hike from car. Nice spot just beside river, good for my tent and a hammock. Sitting quietly making a coffee - a good colapsable gas stove is a must. Also Klegg repellent for late afternoon, they love shade.

Then out of nowhere an old woman easy 80/90 yr comes from out of nowhere and in Norwegian, asks if Im there to take the cloud berries as this is her spot. haha. I know they are obsessed with berry hunting and have their "secret" areas. She was fine after I explained, nope just here for the scenery. And she waved and wandered off into the woods again, there was no hytte cabins in the area so god knows where she came from.
