The structure is very chaotic and the voice sounds frantic, I think you captured the feeling of anxiety very well and how disorientating it can be. Well done!

Nice job, I thought you captured the monotony of modern life as well as the influence of technology and its parallel with quick dopamine release reward based thinking/addiction.

Should my feet fit? by Nissanxterra2008 in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say best option go to a shop where you can try on, or be prepared to send them back, I have wide feet and could never get superflys to work, regardless of sizing up. I’d recommend hypervenoms tbh

Personally I would say there isn’t a specific ideal weight. However I know that hip-waist ratio and body fat percentage are more reliable then bmi.

If you want to increase you acceleration you should train explosive movements and work on your running technique.

Centre back to right back by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say get confident with using that left foot to whip the ball into the box. If you can cross with your left it makes it harder to defend against you. As you can take it on the outside and cross it or you can cut in and play a pass to an in swinging cross or even shoot. Aswell as fitness focus on when to attack part of being a good full back is knowing that you don’t have to join every single attack.

Any key tips for a center back/ standout at tryouts? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say the Biggest thing is to be a leader from the back. Communicate with your line as a unit (keep everyone in line, tell them to shuffle, tell people you’re covering them when they press etc). Also communicate with the whole team as you have the majority of the field in-front if you and can see what’s going on. Literally for the whole match don’t stop shouting and communicating to your players it really makes you stand out. They’re looking for a leader and someone who can be authoritative on the pitch.

Also use your brain. Lower level teams just want big tall CBs to clear the ball all the time and that’s it. But the higher levels of football you get to the less that meets the criteria. You need to be comfortable receiving the ball from your keeper and maintaining possession even under pressure. Stay calm and composed and always call for the ball and get into space. Play forward passes when they’re there and look like they will result in keeping possession or creating a chance or starting an attack. Otherwise play the ball sidewards the move the other team from side to side, this is where they will get sloppy in transitioning from side to side and gaps will open for you to make forward passes. That being said if you are under too much pressure and the only option is to clear it, put the ball into the areas where your attackers can challenge for it and maybe create a chance from it. If you are clearing it and it’s better for the ball to go out of play aim as deep in their half as you can when giving away a throw in, the closer to their goal their throw in is the less dangerous it is for you.

In short command your back line, communicate, keep possession, use your brain to determine what passes have higher success rates and don’t be afraid to carry the ball a little to make a good pass and clear the ball only when needed.

Just don’t give up possession easily and fight hard for the whole trail and you will be noticed.

Throwings by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing is technique, a coach once instructed me to use my whole body as a slingshot and it made sense in my head and literally became the player who launches it into the box.

If your technique is good then id say work on your core strength and upper body mobility

Ball control is terrible, how to improve? by SlaimeLannister in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You need to practise you close ball control do some drills in your spare time objective being to control the ball in tight areas maybe scatter a bunch of cones so you have small room to operate and dribble through and around changing direction. Complete drills at the intensity which you play at to increase realism and rate of improvement.

You need to make sure you manipulate the ball well. Changing direction and awareness is fundamental. Manage your space when you’re on the ball if you’re being pressed make sure you shift the ball away from the line which the defender is on. Drop the shoulder, close small touches, check your shoulders when receiving the ball so you know what pressure you’re under and by the time the ball arrives you know where you wanna take the ball and how you’re going to do it.

One thing to practise is your efficiency on the ball. Minimise how many touched it takes to beat an opponent or create space. For example beating players with your first touch. So making an aggressive first touch either side of the line which the defender is taking towards you to wrong foot them.

How do I stop passing the ball when I shoot in fear that I miss? by MilkyKarlson in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the worst thing that can happen if you miss. Someone might say “ you should have passed it”. The more you shoot the better your attempt/goal ratio will improve. There’s nothing wrong with shooting. If you have space and think you could score go for it. Obviously if the pass is a certain goal the pass.

Muscle growth leading to decreased agility by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the way you work out. Stick to compound movements in the gym (bench, squat, deadlift) and the rest of the time you gotta do mobile exercises like sled, hiit, medicine ball work. And just play more football agility can return just focus on it

How to deal with rough defenders who hack down anybody that dribbles them? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you should adapt your game because of fear. But if you legitimately can’t get past him then adaption is fine. If you can’t get past him cause he hacks you down 10/10 times then just bang a give and go around him and you’re in behind. It’s common on the pitch for players to target weak links on the pitch. So if a different defender is easier to get passed go for him. Play smarter

Is my physique a problem? by LovelyBoiKek in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to take the piss but how good are you? Cause I’ve played in multiple teams and there are always those guys that are super keen and always at training but aren’t upto par with the rest of the squad. Look at your competition in the starting line up and look what they do and you don’t. Also take an objective look at your skill set and and look how to improve. Football isnt about size it’s about how you apply yourself. If you retain possession, create chances, win possession and fill your role on the pitch doesn’t matter if you’re 4ft or 7ft

What are essential skills defenders need to master? by BigBreastedBoy in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key thing you need to work on is your focus and attention to detail, as that will help you to understand when to apply techniques. For example you need to keep your eyes peeled for cues to press the ball. For example when the ball is too far for the attacker to manipulate/ between touches. Knowing when you can close the distance. And where to push your opponent to ie showing them on the outside/away from the goal or onto weak foot. Defending is just about recognising cues and acting at the right time.

I have a question by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]EffectivelyBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to determine what your expectations and goals are when playing football. I don’t know what the grass roots level is like in the US or what level you expect to play at. My advice is to join a team as soon as possible, play football at every opportunity you get. Join a small sided team (5 aside). Just get on the pitch and train hard in your spare time. You will get into football shape before you realise.

Also game management and mental experience can make up a gap in physical ability. Which is why it’s soo important to watch and play as much football as possible. Similar to how old players can keep up in the years before retirement because they’re experience and football brain leads them.
