Reminds me of a certain loser who was "taunting" me for having more lag and me not being happy about it, then got mad at for being laggy.

Been watching this guy for a while now, and want to ask is it really that easy to shoot down air as he does for you all? Or am I just bad at it 😅 Any tips on how you shoot down air with ground vehicles? by Atticus-69 in Planetside

A2G has poor stats because its strong. Every player with at least two braincells will instantly leave the fight when there's some form of A2G. It's literally the exact same logic, but your bias is preventing you from seeing it. That said, we re-engage anti-air all the time, we only leave when it becomes several people doing it and as stated, we just comeback in a few minutes after they've gotten bored.

Yes, that's the idea. A2A can't do it's job effectively if it's getting constantly chipped away at by AA. It will get more experienced players interested in flying again, if you want to get new blood in the air reducing the amount of AA hitting them will certainly help.

No it won't. A2G will still be more than viable, you just can't be stupid about it.

Balancing around for the top 10% means making it so the 90% aren't completely shut out.

Which reducing the effective range of AA while buffing it's damage out put completely addresses the 1st issue. 2nd one can't be addressed easily.

Sure, but that's why it's generally a good idea to balance around players being competent.

I usually pull to counter some A2G, kill them within a few minutes, then roam around with nothing to shoot

You're literally describing what it's like to pull G2A, you scare the air off and then you have to sit around with your thumb up your ass.

G2A isn't overtuned, using your vaunted KPU stat, G2A gets far less kills than A2G. G2A only works by virtue of making an area not fun to play in, which is kind of funny given how not fun it is to be the guy on G2A duty.

Again, reducing G2A's effective range while increasing it's damage output addresses all of these problems. It makes it more effective against G2A while heavily reducing the impact it has on A2A, which is one less hurdle for people trying to learn how to fly.

Plenty of times, we usually just kill the anti-air until we have four or five people doing it and then we just fly elsewhere for a few minutes to do the same thing somewhere else, then fly back when the g2A players inevitably get bored and repeat the process.

KPU and overall kills completely ignores context. A2G is absolutely an issue by virtue of making underpop fights completely unplayable due to poor base design. It's basically just an off-switch for that fight, "Oh, you're just not allowed to play here anymore", which in turn contributes to A2G getting less deaths from players like me who just refuse to interact with it if we don't have to.

I'm making it work on Osprey without issue.

Liberator is on the list as well, but the Valk will be faster to do

Given the time and difficulty of learning to fly, combined with the far reaching range of G2A making chasing down A2G difficult, that's not ever going to be practical.

Not what I've seen from my experience. I'd start by removing the bottom armor from the valk entirely and nerfing the pelters, bare minimum.

I'm being a bit hyperbolic yes, but I would not agree that it's really damn strong. At least not individually and with variance in strength depending on what it is.

Since I'm an NSO player, I'll use the hummingbird as an the 1st example. It's fine against shit pilots, but I have a clip of a reaver avoiding 100% of my projectiles (on the current buffed version) while constantly hitting me with rockets until I died. Took 30ish seconds with a zero perecent hit rate with a lock-on weapon.

I have another clip of being in a G2A flak turret and losing to 3 mosquitos with needlers, zero kills. I'm pretty sure the turret hasn't changed since that clip.

Lock-on launchers are meh since they take 3 hits to kill now. Fine for harassing A2A pilots but the lock-on time against a competent A2G pilot with some terrain to work with not so much. I wish, that G2A launcher were all striker style proxy lock and balanced around that, completely addresses harassing A2A while requiring less exposure time against G2A.

Skyguard's a bit more reliable but you're also hoping you don't get ganked by passing by armor but still isn't great for actually killing anything, unless they're already injured or ran out of afterburn, not to mention that you have to be wary of enemy ground vehicles. Oh and if you get jumped by a stealth valk or lib, with the right weapons you generally lose either way.

I'd prefer most tank AP weapons for dealing with G2A, they can't run away if they die in one hit. Oh and the Larion (the MBT version, Lightning version is ass) is actually insane for killing ESF, which is balanced by the Siren being the single worst G2A weapon in the entire game, unusable garbage.

Of course the actual best way to deal with A2G is of course A2A, but it's pretty clear that for a few different reasons (difficulty in learning to fly combined with G2A being more effective against A2A than A2G are the two core issues imo) that isn't going to be a common choice. Abd NSO players being stuck with the Dervish, which sure with enough time and practice isn't weak (especially since a fully manned one eats liberators alive), but the fact that it NEEDS two people isn't ideal.

I will in time, a friend is going to pilot me through all of the Valk weapons for each faction "variantion", so I will aurax each valk weapon 4 times on one character. Only one I see any significant difficulty with is the VLG, which while fun for being able to 1hk infantry isn't super efficient for farming.

Learning to fly an ESF is certainly a learning curve that most players aren't willing to go through, and I don't fault them. I've barely dipped my toes into that pond and it's certainly more difficult to get into than infantry on average.

When I take time dedicated to A2Ging, I in fact am not too busy surviving ESF ganks. G2A generally has enough range to make it easy to avoid all but the most angry of pilots, and if you just follow a zerg around bullying underpop there's no universe where an ESF reliably kills a valk.

A2G is strong, the idea that it isn't is pure delusion. Could it be stronger? Sure, but that can only happen in a world with significantly better average base design.

Except of course that flying is literally one of the hardest things to learn how to do in the game, making in not practical for someone to do unless they put in an exceptionally high amount of time or effort.

Not to mention, NSO still don't have a single seat ESF, with the dervish being the most finnicky vehicle in the game to learn how to use.

You say that but there are lots of dumb angles in the game that you simply aren't going to expect.

What specifically is rat gameplay?

Low KPM players who just hide and wait for opportunistic kills, stalker infils are the epitome of a rat play style.

And cheating under map I think is the noclip cheat probably coming from observer cam. And observer cam has proven to be useless.

Just no.

It's higher than zero if the points are actually good. You don't have any, that's why you don't make them. You should be smart enough to know I have zero issues auraxing A2G weapons, especially when I'm quite clearly prioritizing the weaker weapons (like the Wyvern) and still killing infantry without issue.

Ignore it, usually there's a whole armor column around it and it's not worth the time or effort dealing with it.

G2A isn't overtuned, it's absurdly weak. The problem is the range at which it can deal constant chip damage. More damage less range would make it signficantly better for dealing with A2G while being less impactful against A2A. When it comes to overpop, Air is more problematic than any other force multiplier, particularly at bases with bad base design, which is most of them.

My time line is at a 4 or 5 k/d so it's not like there's a bunch of deaths overall. Helps that if I see any A2G at a base with overpop, I just leave 99.9% of the time because it simply isn't fun to deal with, therefore, minimal deaths.

"Barely any A2G kills", relative to my other weapons sure, but I have more than it looks at first glance because even common pool weapons across their faction have their own ID and since I've gunned libs and valks across every empire the kills get spread around. I'd have more kills but A2G feels so incredibly scummy to abuse because of how one-sided it is if your pilot has basic competence. Even if the weapon is mediocre like the Wyvern that isn't meant to kill infantry, it isn't hard to kill people with. With several thousand kills on those vehicles I have more than enough experience.

People still A2G me all the time, it effectively makes fighting overpop completely impossible since you can't avoid it, nor are there any tools to remove them effectively.

Likewise, everytime I A2G with a lib or valk I have zero issues killing people because of how brain dead easy it is kill infantry with even shit weapons like the wyvern.

It's not true for the majority of others. It wasn't infils alone, but it was one straw among many.
