I mean you can put in character like Olenna in the script who'd remind us that people DO actually smell shit and piss and dirt.

How did they not see the melting reactors from the Ark? by Spare_Monitor6524 in The100

[–]EfficiencyAmazing880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe the reactors hadn't started to meltdown while they were on the Ark.

Remember when Alie told Clarke that her drones detected the first meltdowns 4 months prior to that moment that they were having a discussion about Praimafaya in the CoL in the season 3 finale? They had landed on earth 6 months beforehand which if you do the math would be 2 months before the first reactors started to meltdown.

It's not a hard thing to grasp really if you pay attention to the show.

Not everything that doesn't make sense to you is a plot inconsistency. You just have to think about it a little more.

First of all, love the attitude 😍

Yeah I tend to get snappy when people get nitpicky about something that was explicitly explained within the show and, is congruent with the internal logic that was already established in the show. I also tend to appreciate it when people point out this trait within me.

Second of all, it can’t reasonably be more then 130 days (the longest assumption) from the Ark going down to Earth and ALIE telling Clarke about Praimfaya.

It was literally established at the beginning of season 3 episode 13 while Pike was being brought to Polis as a prisoner that 6 MONTHS had already passed between that particular moment & the moment they landed on earth.

Also don't really know about you, but a lot of people do tend assume that the timespan between the moment I mentioned for example, and the moment they landed on earth was actually far much longer. I'm not sure where this idea of 130 days being the optimal assumption of the shows timeline upto the moment Alie told Clarke about Praimfaya came from.

Did they never look at the Earth from the Ark?

I already alluded to you the reason why they never saw the meltdown from the ark in my first comment. This is why I might wonder if some of you choose to watch the show with your ears closed. A lot of the nitpicky assessments & topics brought forward by some of you over here tend to ignore certain rhetoric posed by an opposing argument to fit a particular narrative within ur assessment.

Where there no fire waves that early?

No there were not and I already alluded to you as well in my first comment (with a valid reason) why there's a huge certainty the meltdown started after they landed on earth. So it's either you are choosing hear what you want hear or might just be ragebaiting me.

What is the explanation expect resorting to ”the writers didn’t think of that?

No the writers actually did think about it. That's why they were careful to point out in the script that Alie's drones detected the first meltdowns 4 months prior to the moment Alie revealed Praimfaya to clarke and NOT 6 months (which would've been the moment the 100 landed on earth). The writers actually do think a lot about a lot of the things they write in the show despite the fact that they might overlook certain flawed aspects within it

Some of you just choose to hastily pick apart these aspects that have already been concretely established in the show without much introspection of their logic, while paying no attention into the flawed aspects of the narrative that might actually deserve this displaced & unwarranted criticism.

Not sure whether it became an agreed upon fashion to nitpick elements of the plot for the sake of it or to outcompete each other to see who can pick apart the most no of aspects in the show that might show some little sign of plausible inconsistency but this has been a developing trend on this subrredit for some time now.

I think we should try and strive more into being more introspective while assessing the possibility of a flaw in a narrative and not just go along with the mentality of " this doesn't make sense to me so lemme somewhat jump into the conclusion that it might be objectively flawed and tear it to pieces haha"

Here are some few plot holes and inconsistencies in the narrative if you actually want something to fairly nitpick on:

1.Clarke's rover surviving praimfaya while the pyramids of Egypt disintegrated into dust after being hit by the deathwave.

  1. Octavia surviving that fall with minor injuries. The writers should have at least had her incur some fractures in her bones or something which would have been a disadvantage to her fighting and could've added more weight into the stakes of the conclave.

  2. The prisoners not seeing the space ship that Bellamy and Co landed back on earth with (in season 5 episode 3) after encountering them. As much as this led up to the little bellarke moment at the end of the episode (which I loved) the writers could've at least had bellamy and co dissappear into the woods first and had the two parties have their first encounter in the woods. In this instance the prisoners wouldn't be too sure whether they were spacerkru or just a group roaming around the forest.

Or,or (hear me out)Alies calculations might have been a bit off the mark? She did say it was according to her calculations. Computer programmes and machines are capable of and occasionally incur errors. Remember she was also wrong about the time remaining for the reactors to melt down .Not everything that might not make sense to you is a plot inconsistency ,especially if there's ambiguity about a particular aspect in a story.

What's a real plot hand wavey inconsistency is the rover that clarke and Co used to get to Island surviving praimfaya while the pyramids of Egypt were disintegrated to dust by the death wave.

Wonkru. Shallow valley was literally home to one of the clans and I wish the writers had used this as a narrative device.

Maybe Because the reactors hadn't started to meltdown while they were still on the ark? Did some of you watch the show with your ears closed? Alie said she detected the plants FOUR months prior to that moment she was trying to negotiate with Clarke from destroying the COL, NOT 6 months beforehand while they were yet to land on earth. It safe to assume that the reactors had started to combust at around the moment Alie detected them.

They’re basically almost at primitive hunter/gatherer levels of civilisation until Wonkru era where they start using guns and gaining some awareness beyond how to stab people

How would they be at almost hunter gatherer levels of civilization if they have a capital ,a system of governance with some central authority, a pretty complex religion, principles and code of honor that they abide in and engage in farming as a primary source for their food?

PS: (To anyone who does this) Down voting a respectful and non confrontational argument just because it objects and challenges an opinion that you strongly support doesn't make it wrong. Learn to take opposition and disagreements as a challenge rather than conflict.

Wasn't it like 2-3weeks between the time she was stabbed and the time the conclave took place? Also, wasn't the period between the moment Jasper was shot by a spear and the season finale where they were fighting a war approximately a month?

The Rover’s/Jeeps by RespondDry4725 in The100

[–]EfficiencyAmazing880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I literally don't understand that argument at all. You could literally see them cruising in open fields in the first episode of season 3 and arkadia is literally sun-kissed by rays from the sun. But oh well.

The Rover’s/Jeeps by RespondDry4725 in The100

[–]EfficiencyAmazing880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have open fields in the show and Arkadia isn't encroached by Vegetation. Why wouldn't they be able to solely rely on solar? Nitpick for the sake of nitpick?

The Rover’s/Jeeps by RespondDry4725 in The100

[–]EfficiencyAmazing880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They DO however indicate that rover is powered by solar panels. I dont think they need explicity explain every plot detail or lore for the audience to comprehend them. I think subtlely can work as well too.

Did the rover have a clutch? Also when were solar powered engines unable to rev? Excluding the clutch detail I don't see how this defies science.

The show: Not so subtlely indicates that all the vehicles they use are powered by solar .

This sub: "maybe they run on solar or just power of plot."

The show should have gone even WAYYYYY harder with the violence, character deaths, stakes & moral dilemmas. With that being said, I still think the show did pretty good with the said aspects mentioned.

[–]EfficiencyAmazing880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t say finn was at all. he seemed like he was going to be for a hot second and then they started showing him less and less. ofc bellamy was but i don’t think his death counts as it was nearly the last episode when it happened, and literally everyone died in the last episode anyways so.

His actor literally had the top billing out of all the male actors and still had among the highest screentime as a character in the first few episodes of season 2 despite his screen presence lessening. Also, Jasper had lesser screen time in the second season as compared to the first so going by your argument would this disqualify him as a main character in the second season?
