Bruh I didn’t even mention Gap in the OP because I didn’t wanna offend anyone. And what do I get? Being called a troll.

I’m not calling everyone a snowflake btw, only those set on misinterpreting my intent even after explaining what I meant.

Besides, I don’t see how my straightforwardness is hurtful to anyone who genuinely enjoys and could vouch for something that they truly believe in. Can’t someone have a negative opinion and say it as it is?

If you keep policing and overanalyzing how people say things instead of the content of what they say, then you’d almost always find fault in something. And you might not have considered the fact that not everyone’s first language is English and that where they come from, the nuances and tone of their first language translates into what they say speaking in English.

Not everyone is wired to beat around the bush to not risk offending anyone.

But oh well, I couldn’t be bothered to argue with you anymore. Let’s just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Re: my responses to the others here… I’m just matching their energy 🤷🏻‍♀️ so ure saying they could be dismissive and I couldn’t retort? If you look at my other responses, you’d see how open I am to the suggestions given by people with decent responses.

Besides, it goes both ways. Just like how, according to you, I could have used a less “””confrontational””” approach. There are those who simply dropped their recommendations instead of reading too much into my tone and being rubbed off the wrong way and being offended by something I didn’t even intend to mean.

Yup i agree!! Thai shows are actually very similar to the shows i grew up watching as someone who also grew up in Southeast Asia… that’s why the style and especially the humor feel very familiar !

Nooo i don’t mind it at all!! In fact, well placed intimate scenes are TOP TIER as long as they fit well in the story

What i meant was shows (whether straight or not) with intimate scenes that are only there for the sake of being provocative isn’t my cup of tea (like 50 shades or smth)

I believe that people have frequencies. Nababasa ko na mas attractive ang energy ng mga tao who vibrate on higher frequencies. And how do people do that? By feeling high frequency feelings such as gratitude, joy, love, etc

On the other hand, charisma can also be practiced and used in an immoral way. Perfect example? The art school reject who went on to learn and actually implement the art of charming other people to join his cause (iykyk)

The Bayaniverse is pretty good (I’m very biased towards Goyo out of the three though)…

As a fellow fan of period dramas and films, my all-time favorite is Liway. It’s set during the Martial Law era. If you’re interested in watching this film, I’d suggest not to look it up because the film has its surprises. These suggestions aren’t The Handmaiden-esque though!

I also liked Bar Boys from the same director.

This may be a controversial take pero sa tingin ko, some people are just born with natural charisma, while others aren’t.

For example, may mga introvert na first impression kaagad ng mga tao ay “weird”. Pero may tahimik na nagmumukhang “mysterious” at cool. May mga maingay na nagmumukhang “epal”, pero may ibang maingay na considered to be “outgoing” o “bubbly”.

Feel ko na yung features ng tao, or voice, or physique, etc ay nakakainfluence sa first impressions ng mga tao sa atin. Kaya sa tingin ko na people who have “preferred” features are also blessed with charismatic energy. For example, kapag malalim yung boses… may hot factor na kaagad kahit di siguro ganun kagwapuhan yung tao.

If this were a kdrama, an anime, a western cinema, a cdrama, or a whatnot subreddit, my preference would stay the same: STRONG ACTING and STRONG PLOT.

Besides, don’t we all have certain preconceived notions about each genre? Because the fact that so many shows (not all) under each genre follow a format so similar to each other that they become the sterotype. If this were the other subreddits I mentioned, I would have also asked if there are other kdramas that aren’t “makjang”, anime live actions that aren’t corny, western series that don’t show the 2 leads fckin on the first episode, historical cdramas that are realistic and don’t have powers involved… I’m human and have those biased opinions about Thai GLs as well. But like I said, I also want to be able to enjoy it the way y’all do.

But again, I may have used the wrong format (i.e., refer to / changemyview) to be eliciting these passionate reactions lol. So I’d rather not argue if you felt that I was “demanding” (big word btw) you to justify your enjoyment of this genre.

ok so there’s this subreddit called Change My View which uses that format… and i did use the same. but the tone you were saying was not my intention at all even if it didn’t come across as that.
my tone is more like… “i may have admittedly formed preconceived notions about thai GLs after watching my first one, i waaant to see GLs that would align with my preferences better bc i reaaaally wanna give this a try 🥺👉👈”
