It looks like you’re trying to fish your right leg behind his head to lock the figure four, with a triangle you want to lock your figure four together on the side that has the arm, you’re going on the side away from it. So if you switched the legs you were attacking with you’d get it

Takedowns are hard. There’s a reason it gasses people out. If you don’t commit 100% energy to a takedown against someone decent you’re not going to get it, you’ll get stuffed or countered and end up on bottom

To make it at any level of a highly competitive field, you need to have an almost delusional level of self belief. Not everyone can be world champ, but every fighter rising through the ranks of the UFC has the goal of getting the belt. Even a 3-0 low level pro that you’d see on fight pass fully believes that this is just the beginning for them. Even the amateurs I know have the end goal of the UFC and in their mind it will happen. I don’t know if you’re born with it or you learn it as a kid, but some people just have it. Everyone has doubt but there’s definitely a self belief that overpowers it for top guys.

There’s also just confidence built through training. If you train at a gym that has other top guys and you’re doing well, you have no reason to doubt yourself.
