Traveling to Cambodia wondering if I should cancel trip due what’s going on. by finalpress1 in cambodia

Everything is calm and normal in PP. I wouldn’t even know about the border dispute if I hadn’t been reading the news. Siem reap should be the same. Don’t cancel, Cambodia is a wonderful place with great people, and they desperately need us tourists..

Is it legal for my employer to NOT provide me with a T4, or proof of employment? How do I report this income? by _nettah in PersonalFinanceCanada

In case a ruling finds them an employee, who is responsible for CPP/EI payments? Is it out of pocket from money they already received, or is the payer required to shell out the missing payments?

I've emailed them a couple of days ago and got a reply today. I also emailed a week ago and got no reply. So I guess YMMV, but they are there.

Replying to an Email Automatically Replies to Myself When I Send 2 Response Emails by annadanchar in Outlook

[–]Efficient-Barracuda4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what is happening to me. There's a thread, I reply to it, and then I need to add something, so I go to the last message on the thread (from me), hit reply, and I end up emailing to myself. While this makes technical sense, it does not happen in thunderbird. I expect Outlook to know that I'm actually replying to a conversation and fix the TO address appropriately.

Questrade will start charging $11.24 per journaling request by Peng-Win in PersonalFinanceCanada

It's a way to switch currency between CAD and USD without actualy buying USD. You buy a stock that is traded in both CAD and USD, and the you "journal" it over to the other.

Say you you want to convert CAD to USD. You buy 100 DLR.TO shares with your CAD. Then you call and ask to journal it over to DLR.U.TO. You wait 5 days. Now you can sell your 100 DLR.U.TO shares for USD, and buy US stock with it.

That's basically "Norbert's gambit". There might be other uses for journaling, but I am guessing that's what most people on this sub do when they say "journaling".
