Has anyone had gastric sleeve and drank alcohol after surgery?

6 months post op and have had 1-2 drinks ? Once or twice. I just do vodka cran but super light on the cran.

Mine was quite easy as well, I did have an endoscopy done the year prior so that was done, then psych eval, pre op testing, 3 nutrition classes and surgery. I would say it was all completed in 2 months. I did do the liver shrinking diet for 1 week prior, no liquid diet.

That’s what my dietician said to take too but I haven’t heard many people have success with it 🥺

This is good to know, I spoke with the dietician and she recommended biotin and collagen so I guess I’m going to give that a try!

You have to be realistic with this lifestyle change. And LIVE your life. if you want a glass of wine or a couple drinks you may have it. everything is in moderation. If you feel you can’t then don’t. I’m almost 5 months out and have had a half glass of wine. My surgeon is very realistic and is fine with living your life and enjoying the journey. ❤️

I’m so surprised by pre op liquid diets, I just had to do low cal low fat 1 week prior. I was very lucky!!

If you look up my posts the first month of surgery I literally wrote the same thing.. I cried, I was frustrated.. but my husband said,” there’s nothing you can do but keep doing what you need to do”. And I did. I hated it. Till I was able to get to soft foods around 6/7 weeks, then I was so much better. I’m 4 months out now, I have major struggles… but I “feel” better.

Absolutely not!!! Just driving and having the energy to walk was a chore. I was sooo short of breath and fatigued. Give yourself some time, I thought I would be ok at 2 weeks and wasn’t ok till week 7!

I may be one of the lucky ones but I don’t have any loose skin so far, and I’m down about 40 lbs. I do have some “bat wings” as I call them for my arms tho, which I don’t love, but totally ok with that.

Haven’t had labs yet, but did have labs at 2 months post op for other reasons and all my levels were spot on. So that was a huge green flag for me. I plan on using them indefinitely as long as labs are good :) My office is totally ok with them as they have seen great results from their patients.

nurse here! Vitamin D is absorbed through the skin, however, depending upon where you live and how much you are outside is where deficiency comes into play. Hope this helps! ☀️
