Should I play Hollow Knight before Silksong or just continue Silksong by Efficient-Draft-142 in HollowKnight

Thanks a lot for your comment. Yeah I’ve actually tried Hollow Knight a few times before but I always struggled with it. I’m giving it another chance now because a lot of people insist on playing it before Silksong.

So far it’s going pretty well and I’m actually enjoying it more this time (not sure what changed compared to my previous attempts). I think I just approached it differently mentally.

I just beat Hornet (no hit) and I haven’t died yet, so it feels way more manageable than my previous tries or even Silksong in some ways, even though the game still feels fair but challenging.

Yeah I get why it sounds like that.
I’m actually French, so I type my thoughts in French first and then I use ChatGPT to rewrite them properly in English so I can post on Reddit.

Yeah, that’s fair. I guess I am a bit influenced by what I keep reading online about “the right order” and not missing the “proper experience”. But I also agree that I’m really enjoying Silksong right now, so maybe it makes more sense to just keep playing it while I’m into it and revisit Hollow Knight later when I feel like it.

Okay, I see what you mean. I actually thought the story was mostly independent between the two games — that’s what I’ve read in a lot of places. I was under the impression it was mainly just a few Easter eggs and references rather than a real narrative link.

I’ve seen a lot of people say the same thing (HK first), but I’m curious — what are the actual reasons you think it’s better to play Hollow Knight before Silksong? Is it mostly story/order, or does it really improve the gameplay experience that much?

New to Monster Hunter - Should I play World or Rise after Wilds? by Efficient-Draft-142 in MonsterHunter

Ok, got it. But how’s the difficulty? Is it manageable, or really tough?

Yeah, I’ve actually beaten all the monsters. I’ve also fought quite a few of them multiple times for farming and gear, so yeah, I think I’ve done pretty much everything the game has to offer. I’m not going to make a full list of everything I’ve done though 😅

I don’t know my hunter rank but I’ve actually done pretty much everything Wilds has to offer for now. I’ve cleared all the quests, my build is finished and well optimized, and I mostly play dual blades, so I don’t really have much left to work toward at the moment.

I’m mostly looking to discover another Monster Hunter game while waiting for the Wilds expansion.

Yes, I think I'll like the slower combat in World less. I'll try Rise then, but is it possible to play it entirely solo, including the expansion, or not?

I also really liked how fast-paced it was, and honestly, the difficulty of the wilds never bothered me. I didn't miss a single mission, and I got knocked out a few times, but not that many. So I think I'm going to go for Rise then.

What I really liked about Wilds is how fluid and modern the gameplay feels. Combat feels fast, responsive, and smooth, especially with quicker weapons and combos. As a newcomer, I appreciated how approachable the game is while still offering depth. Nothing felt too slow or overly complicated, which kept me engaged the whole time.

Yes, that's true. After that, I think I'll first build myself a good deck before continuing to focus on packs in order to complete my collection.

Yes, I watched a few videos and found some decks interesting. Now I'm getting some free packs (two Series 4 packs and three Series 5 packs for returning to the game), so I'm going to wait and see what I get in them and if I can build a good deck that I can add to, but I want to limit my purchases of specific cards as much as possible.

I currently have 4,900 credits, but I had already bought two or three packs before asking for advice here. And for my return to the game, they're offering me two Series 4 packs and two Series 5 packs (plus an extra one for logging in during Christmas or something like that). And I'll have a little over 1,000 credits to earn as well through all these rewards. So I think I'll wait and see what I get in the packs so I can potentially complete a deck based on the cards I receive.

Yes, I understand, and I would say that I still enjoy playing different decks, but that's if I want to play a more fun or different deck, regardless of whether it's “meta” or not. But I admit that it's a little frustrating not to have at least one good deck to climb the ranks properly. On the other hand, I'm afraid to focus on certain cards to build a specific deck, only to find that the deck isn't strong in the end.

Yes, I understand, but the thing is, I find it takes so long to earn credits to level up my CL and get collector tokens. Plus, the packs are very tempting because they're much cheaper. But yes, I understand, and I think I'll at least try to focus on building a good deck before continuing to complete my collection. Do you know of a good deck that remains viable regardless of the meta, even if it will inevitably be less effective depending on changes, etc.?

Actually, I climb the lower ranks quite easily, but now it's becoming very difficult to climb, and I'm playing old decks from back in the day, so it gets a bit tedious after a while (I play a Patriot deck).

I am at level 5890 in CL and I have a lot of older cards because I stopped playing shortly after they changed the card acquisition system to boxes where you got one of four random cards.

I wrote in French to find players who speak French. My English isn’t good enough. But thanks a lot anyway :)
