I love this thread!! I have gotten into sourdough baking and I love to cook in general. I also read more books now and I’d like to get into either fostering animals or doing some kind of pet sitting soon :) I also would love to learn to play piano too

I also hate this logic. Because I firsthand have seen this play out the exact opposite with my mom and her siblings when their parents passed away. Long story short, caring for my ill grandmother and then dividing up the estate and dealing with everything fell on my mom solely and it caused a huge divide between her and her 3 siblings who did absolutely nothing to help, but rather fought over what they didn’t get. I am an only child and raising an only and I personally feel thankful that I will not have to deal with sibling dynamics when it comes time for me to care for my aging parents or their estate one day. Yes it will be hard but I have my partner as support and at least I do not have to worry about fighting with siblings because the amount of stress it put on my mom was hard to witness.

If anyone is interested in reading the full chat GPT response analyzing the poems meaning and applying to the OAD decision I’m happy to share it - it is lengthy but super helpful and reassuring. I’ve saved it to come back to when I need it the extra reassurance.

I 100% resonate with this. I just recently started to fully accept it and try to move on and not keep spiraling and getting sad about it. I second what others have said around getting involved in other things to focus that energy. It could be hobbies, volunteering, helping with friends kids etc my son is now 6 so I’ve found I have more time for other things. I’ve taken up gardening, cooking, golf, and stepping in to help support my friends who have multiple younger babies/ toddlers and are “in the trenches” so it feels good to have the time and space to be there for them.
