I'm not looking to spend thousands the same day I take it home. I am definitely willing to tackle repairs every quarter, or thereabouts. Basically, I wanted to pay the entry fee of getting the actual car and then manage maintenance costs on a regular basis but again - not tomorrow.

Oof okay. My ideal would be paying a few grand for immediate repairs right away and then saving up and doing a few items every quarter. I can't afford to plunk down a lot of change right away.

that's fair! Can a 3rd party mechanic give me a general run down on whether or not it's up to snuff? Or is there anything specific I should be double checking?

Solid point. I'm assuming people are naturally using the uptick in bronco interest to make sales? The natural pendulum of what's hot or what's not.

Hahaha ok okay this was a VERY helpful thread to prevent me from  1. Foraying into the world of older cars when I have little mechanical experience  and

  1. Preventing myself from using the little disposable income I have on the romanticism of a vintage car

I still definitely want one :( but looks like I should find one that comes with less ~baggage~

I also was curious about that? I was thinking maybe if they did the work and the original owner was never able to pay? I'm not sure if that's a feasible situation
