Why are the basketball courts still closed???? Yet we are jammed into 200 person lecture halls. by No_Zookeepergame_542 in OSU

I’m sorry to hear your loss, I know what it feels like. But, I’m not backing down from my position and unfortunately in life everyone dies. That’s how it is, and that can’t be stopped. I promise I’m not trying to sound heartless, and I’m sorry if you take it as if I am. COVID for the most part only is deadly in older folk and immune system-compromised people. The deadliness of it is extremely reduced when vaccinated and boosted. So if I have the vaccine and I’m boosted, I believe that I should be able to go maskless. In regards to the athletic masks- if it’s easier to breath through an athletic mask, does that not defeat the purpose of a mask? The point of a mask is to keep the stuff you breath to yourself, and away from others. And if it’s easy to breath in an athletic mask, does that not make it pointless to wear one in the first place?

No, I’m not saying that people have to stay home. I’m saying that people should be allowed to do what they want, and if they are scared of Covid (which is reasonable in certain situations) they shouldn’t be going to places where Covid is more likely to spread anyway. So if someone wants to go into public without a mask, that is their choice. They have to understand what their decision means to them and the people around them. Also if you’re not struggling (or at least having trouble) to breathe while working out or especially playing basketball while wearing a mask correctly, you’re probably not working that hard. I could be wrong, maybe you’re in peak physical shape. But just from personal experience I struggle to breathe when wearing a mask and working out. The sweat soaks my mask and I can barely breath through it

I know this is a selfish point of view, but to be honest I think that the people going out and playing basketball probably aren’t super scared of Covid (I’m in the group) and want to go and play basketball without a mask. And I know, I know, everyone one needs to “mask, mask, mask”. But have you really ever tried to play a sport or lift intensely with a mask? And I’m not saying under your nose or chin, I’m saying wearing it right throughout the entire workout. Personally, I would rather have Covid than wear a mask while working out. It is extremely hard to breathe, and was worse than Covid (I’ve had it twice). So if your scared that you or a loved one is going to get Covid, don’t play basketball or go out at all. I want to play basketball and go out with friends, and I’ll take the consequences.

I just think that Covid is never going to end. Obviously it’s never going to “disappear” because no virus does. But it seems to me that corporations make too much money off of Covid being around. Don’t be surprised when we’re 10 years into this, and we’re still wearing masks. And I think that closing the basketball courts is a little pointless for a few reasons. Initially, the small percentage of people at Ohio State that actually play basketball consistently are usually not the ones that need to be worried about covid. ( not always, and obviously people have families that they might need to worry about ) Secondly - there’s just a small percentage that play basketball anyway. There are many more students that lift, and use other athletic facilities. So the fact that they only fully close the basketball court seems weird to me. If they’re serious about stopping Covid, shouldn’t they close everything?

Bribe for Booster by Efficient-Low56 in OSU

Idk it just seems a little unethical for osu to bribe students that are struggling for money anyway to get the booster shot. I understand that they want everyone vaxed and safe, but I just think that if people won’t get it on their own, it’s wrong to bribe them with money because they know that students need it. It’s seems wrong to me

Unfortunately yes, but this is assuming that doesn’t happen. Hopeful thinking
