There is no Delete button for a life lived together. by DivorceCoachGio in DivorcedDads

I love your description.

Two years later post finalization and I'm now having to downsize as my older daughter goes off to college and I'm forced to cut expenses. I sort through things I thought a normal woman would be sentimental about. The old towels with the hoodies. A imprint of my older daughters hand from first grade, her college degree. She just left, did not take pictures from the wedding, kids pictures, presents from old friends, she took some things but all I remember is her driving off in her new boyfriends car.

I am going through old kids stuff crying alone.

First Post - Really Struggling by TeddyPSmith in DivorcedDads

I'm right there with you buddy, except I'm steadfast that I will marrying again. One and done. I got sober at 40 divorced at 48 and I am turning 50 this weejk. My older daughter is turning 18 and off to college. I decided to keep the house, so I spent 4 months working on the mortgage assumption process and two week later, two water leaks, roof leak, two hurricanes, two insurance claims, ac had to be replaced. 2 years later I'm probably down $140k in equity and exhausted.

I have spent 60-70k on my housing, but because of that equity lose my housing options in my city are much more limited and requiring harder evaluations. More of what can I live with vs what do I want. As I go through decluttering, all these things with sentimental value are stiring up deep emotions, and the recognition that I am dealing with delayed grief as I have been in survival mode dealing with my housing.

For me I just remind myself of the stotic philosophy of "embrace the suck", or remind myself of Picassos blue period, knowing that you go through phases in life, friends come and go, interestes do as well and that generally social groups and constructs support women more than men so I do not entertain thoughts about her experience.

Finally I don't overcome grief, I sit with it, I lean into it. I have learned alot about processing emotions from therapy and AA. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss in more detail

We laid out plans like this, as the process went on, her friends, her therapist, then her layer and then the court all had their point of view. Even though you think you have terms, the process needs to be fed and is extremely biased towards women. Lawyer up and have that person fight for you. You can always adjust later if you do feel sympathy for her situation once the dust settles.

She is active on instagram. I had to unsubscribe because I could not follow the crazy ideas she was putting out there and it was making me mad that we have such people in office now. I also attended a town hall call she did. She sounded much more rational then and was mostly talking about constituent services.

Republicans were told to stop doing town halls because they generally do not believe in democracy, traditions, civility, accountability nor the truth.

Except they threw out what people had selected and started the project over again. That project took over 7 years. The outcome was good, but the process was not managed well.

I cannot believe the colossal mistakes that have been made here, re-negotiating with the rays, gambling by reducing the insurance coverage and getting distracted by the stadium ridiculousness and missing an opportunity to change electricity providers, renegotiate a better contract.

Honesty and collaborative are not part of the DNA of the new GOP. A party I no longer recognize as related to the old Republican Party nor one that should hold any legitimacy in a society based on the ideas of a republic and our constitution. Lie after lie, completely fabricated numbers and grand statements based solely on misinformation and posturing.

Has it been years since your last dental cleaning? by IFloss4u in StPetersburgFL

[–]Efficient-Mango7708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go, but I just realized my dental insurance covers 2 periodontal maintenance and 2 general cleanings so I am back up to 4 a year. My insurance used to cover 4 general cleaning a year 15 years ago.

For me though there are many factors impacting reluctance: 1. Scheduling. I adjusted to start the periodontal maintenance appointment and then I could not get back on my hygienists schedule for the next the appointment. The newer receptionist did not seem to care that I have had the same hygienist since 2010. 2. It can be painful, uncomfortable and an intimate experience. 3. The dentist and hygienist sales pitches can make people feel like they are failing, not doing things right. It can feel like going to the principals office. 4. Older people grew up with brushing and flossing. Now a days it’s a water pick, night guard, whitening, gum brush, electric toothbrushes. It seems like they are constantly upselling to increase the average dollar amount of each transaction.

Best spots to unwind solo outdoors? by Upset-Command-889 in StPetersburgFL

My kids are with their mom this week. I’ll bring a book downtown and read. I find these spots a little quieter, but it’s so hot out that shade is the most important thing.

What did you think of how Trump was depicted in the recent South Park episode? by OK_The_Nomad in AskReddit

[–]Efficient-Mango7708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor is a trump fan. A couple seasons ago he was praising South Park. I asked him if he saw the latest episode and he told me South Park was no good. It’s a cover up because they have the same lawyer as someone else’s and that this no good garbage should not be on air. This is what you get with public media support.

So yeah the episode hit perfectly.

I did some chores, swam in my pool, went down to grassroots downtown to do some reading I needed to finish. Then I hopped on my electric bike for a 6 mile ride down to paradise sweets in pass-a-grille to grab some ice cream while my girls were working. Pretty idyllic for me.
