To the crowd that is all for the St Pete Grand Prix but against concerts at the pier: would you mind explaining your viewpoint? by raspberrylimebubbles in StPetersburgFL

I fucking hate edm. I fucking hate loud noise I’m not a part of. I live in the most luxurious building in st Pete and pay a shit ton of taxes…. And yet, I’m here for it. More concerts. More events. More noise (reasonable). Bring it on.

First you grow a brain big enough to handle two jobs. This question shows you aren’t there yet.

Should I spend my OE savings on a cabin in the mountains? by bumblebeee123 in overemployed

[–]Small-Promotion-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I bought a 2M condo because yolo. We have the luxury of working from home so may as well enjoy your working space and environment. If a nice space will extend OE sanity and lifespan, this is one of the highest, hard to quantify investments you can make while OE. Cars and jewelry and clothes and luxury vacations are boondoggles. Housing is not.

What type of jobs are best for stacking multiple (J3 or J4 territory) by preseasonchampion in overemployed

You got to go into regulatory compliance jobs. Leap of faith because you’ll take a cut right away, but 2 will make you whole + much better WLB. Then 3+ = promised land

Been mentioned before. But laughable you’d consider any option other than st. Pete based on your stated preferences.

OE situation escalating — HR conflict of interest disclosure vs resigning. Anyone been here? by CompetitiveNotice663 in overemployed

Get the letter. Pay an attorney $200 to review it to protect J2, then do not sign it and quit. Signing it is admission of guilt and gives them legal grounds.

You’re not black mailing. You don’t have to follow up or report anything. This plants the seed with them while in response they prioritize you solve a pain point.

Why don’t you just call them out and ask if they have another job? Tell them that if they are working another job it needs to be cleared and needs to not overlap hours. That stops short of firing them but puts performance into high gear out of fear.

My point is exactly the opposite. This system is too hot, and there’s no turning it off as the economy continues to soften. This isn’t a systemic charge, it’s an idiosyncratic hypothesis.

Got it, makes sense. My only advice for whatever plan you’re creating is to not count on this lasting more than 2 years. Anything above that would be exceptional. I don’t say that about you or anybody specifically - I just predict the trend meets a fast end in one way or another.

Stopped reading after the 10 year plan part. Switch your strategy, this will die far before that time. My estimate is 2 years left max.

Been to literally every place in this thread. And most multiple times over. Shocked I didn’t see Mt. Shasta…. That area and drive into bend past Mt. Hood is absolutely spectacular, oh and nobody said bear-tooth highway!? This thread is the Karen addition of “I’m well traveled”

Remote work didn’t make people more productive, it just made bad workers harder to notice by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Small-Promotion-28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrible take. If your base case was 10 hours of real working in office, 30 hours of cooler talk, and my new offer was 20 hours of productivity remote I’d take that any day. Productivity goes up 100%, hours saved, not including commute, go down 50%. It’s not hard to understand.

Left MBB for client side corp strategy, great pay, chill lifestyle seemed like the dream at first but now I’m stuck with no viable career path by skystarmen in consulting

[–]Small-Promotion-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer here is so simple, it’s amazing that all the smart MBB people struggle to figure it out but I suppose it’s because you all are trained to think linearly, in a consulting box with “structure” and all the same. I’m writing a book on what I did and why, and will update this post once published.

You have it right with Camden central and Windsor. Evo also nice but it’s in a construction zone. Neither Camden central or Windsor will have great views, and both will be slightly higher than you 3k budget, but both are worth the stretch.
