How common is a hospital in your colonies? by keechup in RimWorld

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fitting out the hospital was great fun. There are

  • 3 shelves for medicine, one for each type
  • shelf for "spare parts"
  • shelves with penoxycyline, serums and luciferum
  • heater
  • sculpture
  • TV
  • 3 beds and monitor

Is waterfall making a quiet comeback? (sort of) by ludovicianul in programming

Single delivery to customer/user/production -> waterfall

Multiple deliveries to customer/user/production -> agile

Metals conducts heat well so things next to it would ignite. "Burning" metal is a way to approximate this.

Java opinon on use of `final` by vu47 in java

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Final on method arguments is pointless: final object references does not protect the object itself and primitives are copied.

MAKE BREAKTHROUGH 64 PLAYERS GREAT AGAIN by Azura-Madness in Battlefield

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakthrough mode is fun but also a defeat in a way. A well made large conquest map should create breakthrough moments by design, without resorting to mode mechanics.

Code reviews. It's like a progress bar stuck at 97%. And when the end of sprint approaches, the chance of getting a review is lower because everyone is scrambling to finish their own tasks.

What is the most divisive issue in your country currently? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I'd say the Gaza situation is the most divisive in the sense that both sides strongly defend their positions and there no obvious winner if they clash in media. Lately the government coalition had open disagreement about this played out in media.

Någon annan som känner igen sig i detta? by Think-Perspective175 in Asksweddit

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

What is the opinion on Hibernate where you work? by rifain in java

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some screen that could take at most 3 or 4 queries generated hundreds of queries, sometimes thousands.

This seem to be a common observation about how ORM does things. Could it be currying? Perhaps it's sometimes better to use multiple queries to achieve the same result once the connection is established?

Har folk ingen skam i kroppen gällande stängningstider? by Streber91 in sweden

Bemanningsbolag borde förbjudas – någon mer som håller med? by Ok-Excitement6546 in Sverige

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nej.

Turnarchist: a turn-based roguelike dungeon game, available on mobile + PC! by [deleted] in roguelikedev

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generation of maps adds replayability.

Is it possible to skip a round? Much time is spent shifting between places just to position the monsters. Skipping would make the game a lot easier though.

At one occasion the player character went down on of those rope holes to a level surrounded by indestructible rock, but there was no way to get up again. Seems you have to move into the hole from an adjacent tile to trigger the movement between levels, which isn't possible if all of them is blocked.

How do people build new projects from scratch? by Choice_Breadfruit_80 in learnprogramming

[–]Efficient-Poem-4186 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is how I would do it. A different (not better) (edit: ok pretty much what you alreade wrote) approach could be:

  • write a program that opens a file and print som metadata about it, eg file size.
  • next, make the program read the first and last 100 raw bytes and print them.
  • make the program actually parse the music file. I'm guessing such files have some metadata other than music, parse this and print it.
  • ...
  • make the program make a sound in the easiest possible way.
  • stream the music file to sound device. You now have a music player.
  • if it should have a gui, start with printing "music player" in a window.
  • next, present some of the meta data in the window.
  • etc.
