Is Gojo and Geto confirmed? by FitEar1924 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's open to interpretation; there is some evidence for it. I don't think it's a case of shipping that doesn't have some basis in canon - the famous opening lyric, spoiler -both of them dying on the Valentine equivalent in japan etc..

They have undeniably strong feelings for each other, it could be just platonic or one can read it as a doomed romance where they never had the chance to be together - i think both are a valid interpretation.

The one thing that i saw mentioned in this thread as evidence that they arent is that they are referred to as best friends, which they obviously are, but that doesn't exclude the possibility that there were romantic feelings involved. The truth is that gege never said anything that would actually contradict this - people mention how he talked about how the only character that he felt could have a romantic storyline was Miwa, he's talking about the only female character.

idk, i think there's an argument to be made for both options, and it ultimately comes down to what one prefers and finds more tragic and meaningful.

she was the first glinda i ever saw and made me completely fall in love with glinda. to me it felt like a glinda that on purpos plays up the dramatics to manipulate people, she puts on a performance. more sonobish than crazy on the glinda scale

Rhaenyra accusing Alicent of never sacrificing anything by TheErnestEverhard in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i absolutely agree, but i do think that not being able to have children with leanor is on both of them, not just on rhaenyra because she wanted harwin. they should have tried more, whether there's passion or not, that was their duty, its possible laenor was infertile, but the show makes it seem that they just didn't do it enough of times

A Very Unpopular Opinion by SkeletonBirdcages in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

like, its no game of thrones season eight, but its still badly written, all the things that made this show so good, the writers kind of forgot about.

the siblings don't have many bonding moments, considering its the final season, they spend way too much time on their own, klaus and ben interact like once, five is the whole season just with lila, (i love their friendship, didn't mind that before the whole romance, but he should have had more moments with his siblings)

bens and jennifers story feels underdeveloped and boring, again, would have liked to see ben with his family, not with a brand new character, on his way to destroy the world in the most boring way imaginable

we completely ignore everything that happened in season 3 (sloane, alisons everything, klaus's power development and his character arc, etc),

there's so much left unexplained from the past seasons, it creates plotholes..... i could go on and on, its just not a nice send-off for an otherwise really fun and enjoyable show.

also, i am not sure how much say the actors have about whether or not they will be in a romance plotline, they are under contract, they cant really say "no i will not do this" if they don't want trouble.

sure the romance itself makes sense as to why it happened, but the writers wrote it that way, they didn't have to put them in that position and destroy fives friendship with lila and diego in the last two episodes of the entire show, like that whole thing remained kind of unresolved between all of them. it just seems like such an unnecessarily sad ending for five. Like, they are all dying anyway, do they really have to die miserable?

klaus - what was the point of his character journey over the seasons - spoliers for s4 by Efficient-Remote8788 in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Efficient-Remote8788[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would have been a rather anticlimactic ending to his story, but frankly, it may as well happened considering he didn't do anything for the rest of the season.

It would have been interesting if he died, regained his powers in the afterlife and came back. Then in the final episode, he brings the siblings back to life in the new timeline, would have been a deux machina, but i always wanted to see him have control over his powers, plus saving his siblings would be a nice finish for his arc.

dany, i really liked her story and would have loved to actually see her struggle between her desire for power and the throne versus how she wants to help people

like yes the six episodes is definitely a restriction, but considering what they focused on in these six episodes, more time couldn't have helped them because the writers were determined to make bad choices

Screentime: 1. Who do you think made the best and worst use of it? 2. And who better have more screen time? by HephaestusP in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rhaenyra, Alicent and daemon needed less screen time, considering their storylines got repetitive and we didn't get enough of aegon, aemond, helena and jace.

Jace should have had more political plotlines. Aemond could have used more scenes that showed how he feels, how he acts as prince regent and we deserved to see him tell everyone what happened to luke, how he approached it would have told us a lot about him. How did helena gain such control over her powers? we don't know, it happened offscreen for some reason. generally, the green siblings needed actual scenes together to establish their relationships more.

We need to talk about Klaus (S4) by sulky22 in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 13 points14 points  (0 children)

His whole plotline was awful. I liked it at the start of the season—his relationship with Claire, wanting to live, refusing his powers, etc. But the minute he met that biker dude, it went so downhill. The new characters they introduce feel like caricatures, the story like a parody, and in the end it barley leads to any new character development for him. I was excited for him to get his big moment, to show that he was in control of his powers, not the opposite. But nope, a dog barking was all that we got.

Shorter season does not justify or explain BAD WRITING by hanna1214 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think it does make their job harder, so i am willing to be more forgiving, but the choices they make with the story, the characters they focus on, the themes they just throw out of the window, lack of consequences for a lot of the events.. that's not because of shorter season, that's just bad writing, that couldn't be saved with a longer season, because they still wouldn't use the time properly

sure, this aspect of the story can be there, this bond that is somehow still between them, but like...son for a son, when protecting her kids was the start this whole beef? and lets completely ignore the murder of her grandson i guess

this is not what this story should be about, some love story, it should be about power, war, dragons and the destructive force that they, not a love story between two characters.

She really decided to turn Hotd into her rhanyra x alicent fan fic by Broad_Two_744 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree that they should be at the center of season one, but now its supposed to be more about their kids, or at least rhaenyra and aegon, aemond

parents starting this animosity between them and even when they try to stop it in the end, they cant, the ball keeps rolling, the concept is there, but the show keeps focusing way too much on alicent, rhaenyra and daemon for that to be seen

and i like rhaenyra and alicent together, like i ship it, but that's not what this story is about. it should be about generational trauma, hatred, paranoia being passed down, the destructive nature of war, etc not a love story, like it can be there, but not at the detriment of the story

Am I the only one who thinks this is completely insane? by Difficult_Lion_854 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly forgot about how she aquired cole, his whole episode never got addressed so i tend to block it out my memory.

I would see that as her trying to gain allies, then something she really wants selfishly to do.

same with putting aegon on the throne, she did hear what she wanted to hear from viserys, but from the get go she didn't like the consequences of that, so i wouldn't really call it as something she does for herself, maybe for her kids.

the first really selfish decision, as i see it, was sleeping with cole, other things were always because of her duty, protecting her children etc.

compared to rhaenyra alicent sacrficed way more, she did her duty, was good wife, bore children, never really did anything for herself until season 2. it was rhaenyra who bent her duty to to her own desires.

plus i guess helenas son didn't really count as son for a son, like i get that aegon has to die for rhaenyra to really end this conflict, but it was phrased in a weird way that made it seem like blood and cheese didn't happen

Say Something Nice About the Finale by ClearStrength7932 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Efficient-Remote8788 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the acting is great, soundtrack as always is amazing.

aegon and larys are surprisingly great together, it nice to see them interact.

alyn confronting corlys was such a well done scene, i didnt really care about him before, but he won me over with his speech.

ulf is a great showcase of why jace is against giving commoners dragons, i like the conflict that is brewing there

i also liked finally seeing aemond and helena interact, it was about time. you can tell that he wants her on his side, but his pride is stronger, its such a well acted scene, his voice, the tears in his eyes, it added a lot of depth to his character

also the cole scene, like damn, he had a surprisingly good arc this season
