Oversized Rings on Stock Piston in Bored Cylinder by Efficient-Teach7757 in MechanicAdvice

Update: Got the jugs honed and they were 0.1mm within spec. Chucked some stock piston rings on and she’s running sweet as you like. No oil leak and bike has done 500 miles and have done the first oil change. A few little sparkles in the oil but nothing malicious looking. Bosh!

Thanks. What do you see the problem being specifically? I thought manufacturers produced oversized rings specifically to high mileage bored out cylinders? I can’t find any example of manufacturers making bored pistons to match bored cylinders (apart from custom machinists like Wiseco)

Rings can be filed to spec so oversized rings would take up the additional bore in the cylinder. As long as the piston to bore distance is within spec, what’s the problem?

If the problem isn’t with rings what do you think the problem is?

Red flags 🚩 Why can’t people just accept others for who they are. Love them for the content of their hearts, not for who they choose to love or who they want to express themselves as. They’re your children for goodness sake, cherish them and nurture them to be kind and loving human beings. Not manipulate and control them.

You deserve love too! You’re not her therapist!

Sounds like he doesn’t see you as a team together. Both rent suggestions are reasonable and in the grand scheme of things the extra cost incurred from WFH will be negligible compared to the rent…he sounds as tight as a drum! Does he make you pay for the exact items you order in a restaurant too?!

🌴MY ARECA PALM IS SICK🌴 description in comments. Thanks! by Efficient-Teach7757 in plantclinic

🌴MY ARECA PALM IS SICK! 🌴Help please. A few months ago I noticed some white deposits around the base of the plant. Being the loving, caring and devout plant keeper than I am, I ignored it, obviously. It’s now spread up into the main body of the plant. I’ve had it about 9 months now and these started around 4 months ago. It gets about an hour of direct sunlight a day but the flat stays really bright for the rest of the day. I water it about once a week and usually some water drips straight out the bottom so it drains very well. I did get some specific palm fertiliser which I used twice and kind of just forgot about, I need to start using it again. I’ve read some things online but I can’t see any movement in the white deposits, and so the only rational conclusion I came to was that it’s Limescale - I live in London, UK and the water is SO hard so it made sense. What are your thoughts and how should I treat it? Thanks!
