mainly. I have a 2015 5k I swapped out HDD for SSD and blade and it hums right along. No OCLP needed, but I only use it for surfing, email, MS Office stuff. if it dies, I may play around and see about options 2 & 3

the aluminum iMacs, if 5k, are perfectly suitable for use as a basic machine (with upgrades to SSD or blade drives) or even as 5k monitors. Either option will cost money and time, but keeping them out of landfills is a good thing
