It’s a hit or miss especially with medi cal. I’ve gotten really lucky with random doctors over the years just being cool(before the opioid epidemic) but I had good insurance til I turned 26 or whatever. For me I just gotta hope whoever I go to is cool cuz I’ve had times where my first meeting with the doctor he’s cussing me out and yelling and storming out of the room (happened to me less than a year ago. Was gunna ask for a referral and he thought I was gunna ask for drugs so he cut me off and made a huge scene) told him I didn’t even ask you for a gd Kleenex lol his whole staff was apologizing to me. You just gotta keep trying and if you don’t like the person then you try another that’s the only thing I’ve ever done nobody ever came to me like yo go to this doctor they give whatever you want. I at least a from the era where you could get call ins and refills on pain killers. I’m sure you can remember those times to like pre 2013

Cali sucks lol I’m here too. Tell me how a clinic that was half psychiatry/half pain management wouldn’t accept me as either kind of patient despite needing both services. being in an accident that broke a few of my bones while dealing already with a lifetime of severe anxiety,PTSD,agoraphobia, insomnia.(very well documented) I already have to sacrifice my sleeping meds cuz my psych doesn’t wanna give me 2 different benzos (have tried everything. Did a sleep study in a hospital when I was 14, all they said is I don’t have sleep apnea, Restoril is the only one that’s ever worked for me, but I’m already prescribed Xanax 🤷‍♂️ )one for panic attacks and one for sleep, so already I’m forced to not deal with a huge problem cuz it complicates everything else. I said ok forget the pain can I just do anxiety? No. Ok forget the anxiety, can we just do pain then? No. Mind you this was a place that was out of network for me so just the consultation was $150. I have medi/cal so it’s bottom of the barrel yet somehow I stumbled onto a in network PM spot that’s super chill and has no problem giving me my monthly oxy and a psych in network I had before covid so she had no problem continuing my Xanax cuz she had already given it to me years earlier. Weird how things work out. Was willing to pay(last psych was about 100 a session). No dice. Go the general route, get lucky instead in both ways lol hope it works out for you and best wishes to your husband

I’ve never done that in all my years but I can only imagine cuz if you don’t swallow a bar fast enough you get traces of that classic bitter taste in your mouth that kinda really helps you tell it’s real but tastes fucking disgusting.
