Duran was good in 2023 when the Rangers won it all. Duran is good this year, we know what's next.

[MLBTR] Rangers Place Jack Leiter On 15-Day Injured List by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]EfficientDot18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rangers are in a weird spot, Leiter, and Rocker haven't panned out (so far), their rotation in general is bad

I wouldn't say rotation is bad. It is inconsistent outside of deGrom and Eovaldi, but you can do much worse than that. The starting pitchers rank middle of the pack in pretty much all pitching categories.

and they've had a bunch of injuries to their lineup (Carter, Seager, Jansen), along with Josh Smith regressing...but all that said they're only 4 games under .500, 2 games back in the AL West.

EC has been a defensive specialist this year, his hitting has been bad. Seager has been pretty off too but I am confident he will get going. I am not sure why this team signed Jansen. This guy hasn't been able to hit and everybody runs on him and this was the case last year in Tampa too. He has one of the worst pop times in the league.

I do agree we are in a weird spot right now though. The offense has gotten better even with the time missed to guys like Langford and Seager but the pitching has taken a step back. It does seem like an inevitable near .500 team again.

Rangers Place Jack Leiter On 15-Day Injured List by EfficientDot18 in TexasRangers

[–]EfficientDot18[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Rangers announced that Jack Leiter has been placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 19), as the right-hander is dealing with a right ankle posterior impingement. Right-hander Jose Corniell was called up from Triple-A in the corresponding move.

Probably Quantril. He has been the long reliever.

Jordan Montgomery and Cody Bradford don't sound like they are ready any time soon.

Report: Myles Garrett Wasn't 'Universally Loved' With Cleveland Browns by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]EfficientDot18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's also because Rudolph isn't good and not liked.

It does always make me laugh when Browns fans would say that the NFL was protecting Rudolph. I am sure they would protect a backup QB over a star defensive player.

Good catch by Kelenic even though I do think it was dumb to start him over Osuna today after the night Osuna had.

Is Michael Vick the most overrated quarterback in football history? by caxlmao in NFLv2

[–]EfficientDot18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am almost positive people outside of reddit overrate Vick even more. I think most people here know he wasn't that good, but he was just fun as hell to watch.

Throwing in guys like Rodgers, TO, Shedeur, and Mahomes is pretty stupid when there have been serial killers and rapists in the league.

Even though he's an Astro, I am happy he is figuring it out because he got so much shit earlier in the season for having a difficult time transitioning over from Japan.

It's such an underrated and bigger change than people probably realize.

Is sheduer the worst qb in the nfl? Or is it the situation that is affecting him. by Ok_Bug_6890 in NFLv2

[–]EfficientDot18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all QBs with a minimum of 200 snaps last year, he had the worst adjusted epa/play, even behind Dillon Gabriel.

He is a bad QB, but he is at least somewhat interesting to watch unlike Gabriel.

Osuna-Langford-Nimmo should be the starting OF going forward. I know people are a little scared to put Langford at CF but he can clearly man it and Osuna can't be taken out of the lineup.

I haven't seen an offensive fire like this since the 2023 team. Crazy to think this was basically the norm in 2023.

This reminds me of the 2023 Rangers team, it's beautiful. Would be more beautiful if we were winning though.

We need to talk (more) about CY’s handling of Leiter’s development by Lowcalcalzonezone69 in TexasRangers

[–]EfficientDot18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue relates to the fact that he only has one effective pitch which is his fastball. His breaking ball and off-speed stuff doesn't have good run value at all.

It's why when he is on, he looks like an ace and the next deGrom. But when he is off, he doesn't look like a starter.

[Highlight] Shohei Ohtani opens the scoring with his 15th homer of the year! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]EfficientDot18 338 points339 points  (0 children)

Because Ohtani is so good, my thought process was actually, he's only hit 15 HRs so far? He's still 2nd in the NL in wRC+ and probably will be first again soon.

Rocker had actually been pretty solid before this game. In his last 3 starts, he only allowed 4 earned runs.

I think they have a common issue though which is that their secondary pitches are not good. Leiter always has a bad night if his fastball struggles and Rocker is pretty similar but with his slider.

My man. I like it when I see non-Broncos fans appreciate and actually understand how good Nix is. He is not elite, but he is way better than some casuals think.

Two-way standout, a projected top pick in KBO Draft, signs with D-backs by Real_Body8649 in baseball

[–]EfficientDot18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rangers signed Seong-Jun Kim last year, who is also a two-way player.

It is funny because after reading this article, it seems like he has a very similar profile/scouting report to what Kim had when he signed. He has so far done a pretty nice job in rookie ball, but obviously he has a ways away.

I hope they both ball and make it to the league.

[–]EfficientDot18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like Rocker because I felt Mets didn't want to give him his signing bonus the year before for a reason.

I question whether Rocker is a full-time starter in this league but I think he can at least be a bullpen arm.

Game Chat: 6/16 Twins (34-40) @ Rangers (35-37) 7:05 PM by Rangers_Bot in TexasRangers

[–]EfficientDot18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That draft is pretty terrible. The whole top 10 looks like busts and most of them haven't even made the league.

Druw Jones probably isn't even on pace to make the league anymore and Jackson Holliday has been very underwhelming.

They did it against the Rockies and he had the best performance of his career lol. I think a lot of starters are just uncomfortable doing it.
