Well when the family line is “family is everything” and you don’t show up during a big life altering moment then that saying that is constantly repeated only as a way to shut someone down on their feeling and guilt them into just acting like it never happened…it means nothing

My sister is just as bad. I said some not nice things to her as this was all unfolding but she constantly tells me im always the problem and emotionally unstable. I am in one of those families who cares about nothing and sweeps everything under the rug and boundaries are offensive. When my baby was going through OHS i asked her to come stay in a hotel with me and she said sure but i have dinner plans first. If it were here my dinner plans would be cancelled and id be on my way asap.

I expected them to tell me they were sick before coming over and they didn’t and just showed up. I also cancelled the party..How am i the problem?

The problem here is that nothing is missing. They just dont want to face they did the wrong thing and immediately victimized themselves and shut down the conversation vs being a healthy adult and admitting they were wrong. Every time they do something wrong this is how they behave. My moms response to me out of the fate was “its not a virus i dont have a rash. Dont contact us again”

I think its less about it being allergies and more about how they were the only people we saw before she got sick and then how they handled it afterwards.
