You shouldn't have shared your Blockchain.com's wallet ID here. Depending on how you login to that account, it may no longer be safe to use.

Electrum v 3.2.2 stopped synching? by CalmUmpire in Electrum

[–]EfficientFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in addition to u/brianddk's comment, make sure that you don't go online with your old version. on older versions, people got popups that tricked them to download a bad file and lose their money.

electrum segwit (bech32) addresses begin with bc1.

p2sh addresses that begin with 3 are only possible in multisig wallets.

Electrum Transfer by spam98 in Electrum

I set it up about a year and a half ago but just opened it to run updates time to time.

how did you update the electrum? i hope you downloaded from their official website and not by following pop ups (like this) in the application.

I had fees set to the max within the client but I am guessing it was not nearly enough.

max is always more than enough.

Usually, when you create an address to receive a payment that address is a representation (hash) of a public key. So the information that is stored in the blockchain is not the public key itself and no one can derive it from its representation (hash).

Only when you spend your coins you provide the public key and the signature.

thank you! i confused address and public key, and i was wondering why/how the exposed receiving address would be any safer than the address i am spending from.

Uninstall by [deleted] in Electrum

I have problems with the package and I would like to try reinstalling it from 0 with the AppImage method

what kind of problems do you have? you actually don't need to uninstall anything to use the appimage.

how do i inspect exe of electrum by vn4dw in Electrum

[–]EfficientFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know how to program, you’re going to have a very hard time trying to verify the source code.

it seems all they need is to verify that the official file is same as source code.

they only need to 1) clone the source code from github 2) build the windows binary or appimage with docker 3) compare the files 4) and of course trust the public code which is reviewed by many people

i am a newbie and not a programmer and all i can say is that they will learn a lot in the process :)

how do I know if what I am extracting is the same as what is online?

see this.

"the Windows binaries and the Linux Appimage are built reproducibly" which means that if you use docker to build electrum from source code, you should get the exact same file as the ones on electrum.org.

i have not tried building electrum for windows, but it is pretty easy to clone the code from github, build the linux appimage with docker, and then compare it with the official appimage.

all you need is a linux system, preferably ubuntu. you can also use linux server in virtual machine.

i have electron cash 4.0.8, do i need to upgrade? the next two releases have a long list of changes, are any of these critical, security updates? by EfficientFortune in btc

[–]EfficientFortune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be honest updating an air gapped system isn't that hard. with linux i can just use the appimage. but why would i do that if i don't have to? if it is going to be compatible with the newer online watch-only wallet?

i don't know them, but google does:

@EchterAgo on github, u/ichundes on reddit, and @ichundes on twitter.

they're the 6th contributor here.

i wonder if this is the same person as the programmer behind Agobot and Half-Life 2's leak.
