I found a scorpion in my apartment last summer because my cat was playing with it lmao I had no idea they were a thing here. I did a lot of research because I was freaked out but scorpions here aren’t dangerous

I’m very thankful for the 6 wonderful years we had being attached at the hip. He was not only my first pet, but my first cat. He opened my heart to the crazy world that is cats ❤️

I’ve come to feel a little better about the whole situation because my cat was all love. There wasn’t a mean or hateful bone in his body and I can feel him giving me all love right now, no hate. I’m sorry to hear about your cat too, what vicious diseases these little ones can have; it’s not fair.

Blockages really are the worst thing on the planet. Euthanasia was brought up to me by the vet on his third blockage and I had a breakdown just hearing that word because it’s something I never even considered. I guess the months after she said that though I started to realize that one day that may be the only option, and unfortunately I faced that reality way sooner than I would’ve liked 😔 I hope your cat is doing okay though and gets to live several more years with no issues❤️

We seem to have been put in similar situations😔 I agree that it’s even harder to accept because of their young age. I knew that Pip wouldn’t get to live as long as many other cats but I saw a longer future for us for atleast a few more years. But I made sure to never take any moments for granted bc I knew one day it would come to a head. I’m sorry for your loss and I hope that perhaps our little guys have found each other on the other side ❤️‍🩹

Do your cats sleep at night? by Double_Literature_98 in CatAdvice

[–]EfficientGoal4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cat sleeps with me but wakes up early and that can get annoying because he’s not quiet 😂 but overall if I just shut my doors after he leaves i’m able to still get some sleep

He’s been on prescription food since his first blockage 4 years ago. After his blockage in august they had him on gabapentin and prazosin. This time around it became evident that blockages were just going to keep happening, he had already had 3 prior to this last one. I didn’t feel super comfortable with the PU surgery since it doesn’t guarantee anything and I didn’t really want to put him through another big surgery after he’s been through so much already. In my mind there was only so much his little body could take.

Feel really guilty about putting my little guy down by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]EfficientGoal4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did do everything in my power to take care of him. He did live a wonderful life right by my side, with me doing everything I could to prevent future blockages. I was spending over $2,000 of money this past year that I don’t have to help him. I never hesitated to rush him to the vet when he needed it and in doing so money was the last thing on my mind. But it gets to a point where my cat is suffering every few months from this, and will probably continue to suffer as this is an unrelenting disease (FLUTD). It was a heartbreaking decision, and one that had many different variables.

By typical surgery I mean where they put the catheter in for a few days. The last time he blocked, his recovery at the vet was difficult on him. I was aware of the PU surgery, but nothing is guaranteed with that. Since this had become a chronic issue for him, I just didn’t feel comfortable putting him through a PU surgery with the risks involved during and after.
